SEC bowl Projections: The Compass Bowl

Would be happy with any bowl. But playing on Jan 8th is lame. Why oh why do they keep dragging out these bowl games in January. It's so anti-climactic, play them all in December and the bcs bowls on Jan 1. Get it done.

Espn's bowl projections has South Florida as the team we'd play if we made it into the compass bowl.

I live in Nashville and I don't think the Music City Bowl wants UT at all (if they have their choice). We would pack the stadium, but wouldn't bring as much revenue to the city as a traveling fanbase would.

The Music City bowl is more worried about filling seats than bringing in revenue for the rest of Nashville. UT fans usually travel better than most fan bases anyways, and with Nashville being located in middle TN, UT fans from west and middle UT that usually can't make it to Knoxville will be more inclined to travel to Nashville.

I think the Music City Bowl itself would be ecstatic. To a bowl like that, a sellout is a sellout regardless. Now the Nashville chamber of commerce on the other hand might have a different view of it, because they are the ones who would love to see tourism dollars spent there.

A January 8th bowl would help us a lot, IMO, gives us a lot of extra practice, and that certainly can't hurt this team.

Isn't there a set number of practices allowed for bowl preparation? I don't think we get extra ones just because the bowl happens to be later than some on the calendar.

Not sure...but hopefully, there is extra practice.

I just read this on a forum:

You get 15 extra days of practice, no matter how much time there is between your last regular season game and your bowl game. (Edit: according to NCAA bylaws)

I honestly don't think Georgia can make the Music City Bowl. They would have to win over Georgia Tech OR auburn and i don't think they can do that.

I expect UT to win out and at 6-6 go to NashVegas for the big party.

GO VOLS! 6-6 gets you just ahead of a lousy 5-7 UGA team who might likely fire mark richt.. ha ha ha..

FIRST, yes, FIRST.. Let's beat OLE MISS.

Yeah, this is true. I am almost sure, however, Dooley would take 3 practices a week for 5 weeks over 5 practices a week for 3 weeks. And this would especially be true with the EE's. More time to soak up the information and rest never hurts.

Can't hurt getting some exposure to Southern Florida for recruiting purposes.

Both good points.

if we do go to the Compass Bowl, the Big East Blog on ESPN projects USF going to that bowl as well

If memory serves me correctly, the Music City Bowl only took Vandy because their choices (along with the Liberty Bowl) were limited to Vandy and Kentucky. UK had played here the prior two years and the bowl wanted someone else and UK wanted to go somewhere else, too.

I remember hearing Scott Ramsey (MCB Executive Director) say that their strong preference is for out of state teams. I think UGA comes here, UK goes to Memphis and IF we are eligible (emphasis on the "IF") we go to Birmingham and play WVU.

no way we go to a bowl with the offense we are running ...

cant run the ball ...its as easy as stack the box and blitz the run gaps ....which is what has been done to us all year. Well be back to scoring 17 points next week ...

We have a solid chance of taking it to Vandy for what its worth

Heard some reps from Compass interviewed the other day. Their spin is, it's in between the New Years bowls and the title game.
