Y’all think this can reduce possible liability issues for this season?

Since they will be given the option I wonder if it's legally possible they will have the athletes sign a waiver saying they understand the danger and agree not to file suit if they get sick. Can any of you legal eagles shine any light on this issue?

That’s not the main issue. The main problem with pandemic football is what to do when a player does indeed get sick one practice and/or the season is underway. Schools will not be able to get around the 14 day quarantine requirements and contact tracing implications. One player gets infected then nearly half your roster will have to quarantine for 14 days. Imagine that in the middle of the season

Yes, oh course. It's a catch 22. Many health and legal implications involved. If the SEC decides it can't do without those huge athletic dollars, and I understand that, and goes ahead with some form of a season, my BVS sensors tell me the Vols would be the team that would have half the team quarantined before a big game. Most likely for Bama or Georgia. LOL, but not really.

Here is another situation that players will have to think about if they do sit out; Player A chooses to sit out and is a starter, player B starts in his place and balls out. Next season starts and player B retains the starting spot, player A is now a back-up.

Yeah , one team could go into a big game with half the team ineligible or both teams might have to resort to PWO’s having to play. I do not see anyway we can have a legitimate 2020 season. It’s best to push it back to the spring.

Without an increase in the 85 limit, this is a disaster in the waiting.
Sounds like they're going to just cross that bridge when they get to it.

Seemingly, if they grant another year of eligibility, they'll have to allow Seniors to not be counted against the 85 limit. But, if school stays in session, I don't see why they'd necessarily give these athletes an extra year to play.

Neither the SEC nor Sankey have stated whether or not any student-athletes who choose to sit out the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns would retain that year of eligibility and be able to use it as a redshirt year.

Seems like the way around that is to only play conference games and build in 2 or 3 off weeks in case that happens.

What if 97% of the team is redshirt eligible and they all choose to redshirt? Season down the drain? Also, this could definitely minimize incoming Freshman for the next season, as well as, transfers.

Yeah, theres a lot of issues with this. Not that it isnt the right thing to do, but many questions to be answered. And I can see it now, player plays, gets sick, shows texts where coach "pressured" them to play. I just think there are many questions here.
