Let me start this post by saying that I love SEC football and it is the best conference in the land. However, the arrogance of a lot of our SEC rivals and even some of our fans is becoming too much. Comments like "Kiffin doesn't realize this is the SEC" or "This isn't Oakland" or "Kiffin hasn't even coached a game yet" are completely and utterly ridiculous.

I'm fairly sure that CLK has been a head coach and this September won't be the first time he's led a team. True, he's never coached in the SEC but a lot of people are sounding like they think coaching in the SEC will be more difficult than in the NFL. The SEC is great but doesn't touch the competition that Kiffin coached against on a weekly basis. Kiffin also had the unenviable position of being a lame-duck coach for a meddling owner and had deal with multi-millionaire personalities. I'm sure he can handle 18-22 year old kids and some whiny SEC HC's who act a similar age. Kiffin will get to hand-pick the talent and won't have to deal with the dysfunction that tainted his performance at Oakland.

To SEC fans. Please stop making all these ridiculous remarks about how a former NFL HC can't handle the big, bad SEC. It makes the entire conference look arrogant and ignorant.

as bad as Oakland might be, they could line up a team of their cuts for the past 3 seasons and absolutely murder any team in the SEC.

The quotes from LSU, UF and BAMA fans seem to indicate that they think otherwise. No doubt, the SEC is the deepest conference but I don't think we're as far beyond everybody else as some seem to.

Even a good portion of the national media is acting like we should be scared of Meyer. It makes me sick to see so many journalists spout out the same mindless opinion. "Kiffin hasn't coached a game, he should be scared. Meyer is ruthless. Kiffin should be peeing his pants." I seriously can't remember where so many people unobjectively tried to pile on a new coach while portraying another coach as a don't-f-with-me type of guy. If UT ever has another coach that is afraid of a spread-running d-bad like Meyer then I want him fired immediately.

they were blessed with mullets, jorts, and cousin humping

I thought about shaving my dog's hair to look like a mullet and dressing it up with Jorts and a gator jersey for Halloween. I decided it would be more fun for me to go to work that way so I bought a mullett, some nasty false teeth, cut off some old jeans that were too tight and borrowed a gator hat and jersey from a friend. I wasn't voted as the office favorite but I did look remarkably like one of my co-workers. It was priceless to see the look on his face when he realized it.

All the journalist folks are a bunch of Urban/UF homers. Just as soon as Lane Kiffin starts whipping some tail, they will be on our bandwagon, except for ESPN, we all know they hate us.

I hope you bathed in Gasoline to get that nasty Gator smell off you.

Good Post. I seem to remember a few years back when another coach with no "SEC Experience" came into the league. A whole host of people (posters, talking heads, etc.) were commenting on how the SEC schools would show him to be a pretender. Two (2) National Championships later, no one doubts his ability to coach. I say let's let Coach Kiffin prove himself on the field before we throw him under the bus.

How many coaches have what it takes to make it 5 years in the SEC (or any major conference for that matter)? Not many, check the records. There are times when a coach is hired and most people agree that he'll probably do a good job. This isn't one of those times.

Kiffen can handle himself in this league. If for no other reason, he has surrounded himself with great coaching experience. After your first year through the schedule, he will be a veteran and hopefully people will drop all this "hasn't won a game yet" and "never been in the SEC" kind of talk. good points gainesvol!

That is a nice opinion, but that is all it is.

Speculation has never won or lost a game. He may not win a game this year, but then again he could win 9. Neither one of us know.

So I guess you just KNEW that Ole Miss was going to beat UF in the swamp last year huh? Let me make it clear that I believe it is not very likely for UT to win in the swamp this year but that doesn't make it a certainty that they will lose.

Kiffn's put himself in a position now where he doesn't even have to win in Gainesville to make a statement. It Meyer doesn't whip him by four TDs, everyone in the media will be scratching their heads and wondering what happened.

Of course Kiffin will be able to handle the big bad SEC league.

Talk is that Kiffin has made so many SEC coaches mad that they may gang up on him and report every nit-picking thing he does.

This could cause Kiffin huge headaches by keeping him buried in paperwork responding to the NCAA.

Thank you for your words of wisdom.

Oh yeah, Saban will be at FSU within 2-3 years,so that's my word(s) of wisdom for you, Gump.

Yea, ESPN hates us, that's why they gave us all that money to sign the staff we have....
