SEC 2015: Year of the sophomore RB

Good article, and I too find it very interesting that these three emerged at the same time. It creates a proper measuring stick to measure all of their successes. It's going to be fun to watch them all develop, especially Hurd once he's running behind a quality O line like Fournette and Chubb.

Nick Chubb, Leonard Fournette and Jalen Hurd.

Three former five-star prospects who have all panned out early in their respective careers. How often can that be said in the age of inflated scouting reports by various recruiting services?

Not often.

I expect Hurd to do much better with an improved line, and another 5* rb pushing him.

Hurd doesn't need to be "pushed" by anybody, he just needs to be spelled. Also, don't forget how bad our running game was when we didn't have Dobbs at QB. I expect Hurd's carries to remain about the same but his average to go WAY up in 2015.

Good grief...the amount of articles SDS attempts to push out is getting ridiculous and the information is generally useless. Just constantly pandering to each fan base in attempt to get clicks.

I saw it as a good discussion/talking point to see how our particular 5* RB stacks up to his SEC counterparts and a meager way to fill the meaningless void in the offseason/a slow Friday at work, but go ahead, please crap on my post.

Sorry...wasn't crapping on your post. Apologies if it came across that way. Just growing tired of SDS pandering to each fanbase. They've posted three more articles since even this one.

Fair enough, my apologies as well, it's been a long day. Didn't mean to sound so snide upon reading over that again. I understand what you're saying, I just am extremely bored at work trying to generate conversation, but I do see your point lol. Cheers to another conflict avoided here at volnation. :)

As an edit: As far as pandering goes, maybe, probably they are since they need to keep an audience during the off season. However, think of it like this: all positive press for us is good press even if it is pandering. Plus, to me it seems they are quite aware that we could possibly be a much better team next year and finally worth discussing. You see more UT and Arkansas articles now than I've seen all season long because the "experts" and even experts have taken notice. Just a (long, drawn out) thought. :loco:

When Dobbs took over you got to see glimpses of what Hurd can do. When he got a little more room he was consistently running through tackles and getting big yards. Can't wait till the OLine gets better and Kamara is able to give him a rest.

SEC defenses will not want to tackle a 235lb back that rested up in the 3rd and comes in fresh in the 4th. Chasing Kamara around will leave them winded.

It's going to be exciting having Hurd and Kamara on the same team for 2015, but I also can't forget about how horrible the Oline was for most of 2014. I don't think many RB's would have had a better season than Hurd, running behind the same Oline. Do You?

He didn't impress me much it didn't take much of a hit to bring him down in the Sugar Bowl against Ohio State.

Thus far in his very brief career while splitting time as Bama's #2 RB.... 207 carries, 1,372 yds, 6.6 ypc, 14 tds.....he's damn good IMHO.

It'll be a RB league because it surely isn't a QB league. I can't ever remember QB play in the SEC being as lackluster as it's been the past couple of years.
