With the signing class today, how optimistic are you about this football season?

Tough schedule, but possible to get 8 wins. Possible. Not easy. Would take us beating a UGA/SCAR/FL and Vanderbilt.

If I'm Butch Jones, I'm watching Oregon tape 24/7. You keep us in that game, or you manage to win it, and suddenly, we're being talked about everywhere.

Yeah I'd like for us to get to the point where we beat vandy and Kentucky easily every year. I think we're also overdue to beat USC, uga, or fla, I think we'll pull one of those upsets this year.

7 ceiling is the general consensus. If we get to a bowl game it will be a success in my book.

Butch has got to get some positive attention back to the program. That only can come by a big win. He does that, he'll be alright. If not, it's gonna be hard to sell recruits that you're improving the program.

If you can tell me that we are without a doubt worse than last year, I'll concede that 6 wins will be tough. If we have a chance at physically competing with what we had, I'm gonna bet we are mentally better, and predict 9 wins or better.

I agree. Oregon would be huge and would give us great momentum for the season. I'll cheer them on, it's not impossible.

I would say yes it hurts to lose Patterson, Rogers, Rogers, Hunter, Bray, Sentimore, and Rivera, but our O-Line is intact, our D-Line is almost intact. Hopefully Maggitt comes back and he's 100%, so our linebackers are still fairly the same. Our DB's should be better, though it stunk losing Waggner.

Our WR's are still going to be good, at least in time, though they should make an impact. Our RB's hopefully keep up the improvement and get us a solid run game.

Our problem last year was our defense was totally out of whack, and we had a nut job calling shots who refused to try to win ballgames.

If we have a decent defensive scheme, and Butch can coach, we'll be right there in a lot of ball games. Maybe even win them.

The signing class today makes a lot less of an impact on this years season as it does 2-3 years from now.

Get to a bowl game and win it. That's all I am asking. Anything short of that, or 7 wins with a bowl loss and I think we are in for a rough 3-4 years.

I mean, granted, as much as things can go right, they can also go wrong. Petrino can sneak up and get us at WKU, Oregon can monkey stomp us, Florida will continue the streak, UGA, SCAR, Bama can all do what they do, and then Vandy can beat us, and shoot, who knows, maybe even Kentucky could beat us.

Right now, we all just will have to wait and see how good of a coach is Butch Jones really? Everything else is speculation. I do believe that we have talent, with the exception of defensive line, we're even or ahead of most in the SEC. We do have talent. If he can coach them up, we'll be alright.

I can't wait for Spring Practice.

Yes. Sad that our goal now for TN football is to win 6 games but its where we are.

Not too optimistic at all about next 3 or 4 years. Will be surprised if we won 6 next year. Expecting 4 or 5 wins in year 1 of CBJ.

Yeah I'm just ready to see what he does on the field before I judge too hard. Whatever happens though, Go Vols!

6 is safe, 7-8 means we got a majority of the breaks. We could've easily won 3 more games last year with an even remotely competent HC and DC. Hoping CBJ rights that wrong and gets us in position to win 1or 2 that we probably shouldn't.

Make a bowl game... Upset a ranked team along the way... Put vandy down back where they eternally belong.

COACH UP the players we have... and elite recruits will start taking Tennessee more seriously....

It's time to put the Kiffin and Dooley disasters to bed... I hope that Butch Jones can do that... or we're screwed.

Since we are gonna have a new starting qb. Nobody knows how he will do. He could have a manziel impact. With a decent coach you never know what's gonna happen. Just tryin to keep my head above water. But it's been hard to do that ,now I know how Kentucky football fans feel like.

i don't know if the recruiting class changes anything as i think the only guys who can make an immediate impact are at wr.
