That is so friggin awesome! I was just 7, and living in Clarksville at the time so my memory of that night is pretty limited! I began watching in ‘05 so I guess you could say my fanhood effectively cursed the Big Orange for all eternity.

Tickets won’t be worth popcorn if the program continues on its present trajectory

Somewhat similar story... I work with a guy that left in disgust at halftime of the 16 Florida game, and drove back to Nashville with his phone and radio turned off. Later that night he turned his phone on to order a pizza and saw UT won

Double reverse back all the way in 2001. UT ahead 99% of the game. Georgia pulls out the W. Before that could happen, streams of overconfident UT fans were leaving the stadium thinking it was over.

Next day, I'm in a local convenience store getting the Sunday paper with the headline of UT losing at the last bit. Really old boomer type was in there behind me in line. He starts flipping out, dog cussing up a storm. I ask him if he's alright. This old man and his wife were at the game and of course let. Said they went to an early dinner and then went to bed. Poor old man had no clue UT lost.

Always stay til the end friends.

You're misremembering that game. It was 17-17 at the half and no one scored in the 3rd quarter. UGA kicked a FG and went up in the 4th quarter, 20-17. Clausen hit Stephens for a long run after the catch TD and we went up 24-20 with about 2 minutes left. For reasons I'll never know Fulmer kicked extremely short on the ensuing kick-off. I looked at my friend and said "we're beat" while everyone around us was jumping up and down and singing Rocky Top. He just said "yep" and sat down and put his head in his hands.
Chavis in classic Chavis fashion was dropping Albert Haynesworth into pass coverage. He got beat of course, by the TE. Chavis pulled him and he and Haynesworth were in a heated argument on the sidelines as UGA completed another pass. We know how the game ended.

One of the most memorable things is after the game in his post game interview the kicker said Fulmer told him to kick it short. Fulmer, in his press conference, blamed it all on the kicker and claimed he made the decision to kick short on his own.
