My dad and I have 4 in EE that are $100 donation seats. I've sat all over Neyland, and these are by far the best bang for your buck. I like them so much that when the TN fund called a couple weeks ago to ask if I wanted an additional 2 seats that had opened up in FF, I jumped all over it.

yeah that's surprising. every seat was sold out two months ago. only a few in CC and DD at $500 each at that time.

we're in row 11 in EE.

I agree with you with the fundamental principle that when teams are good a lot of "fair weather fans" will jump on board and buy tickets. That is the current state of Tennessee football.

My point is fans like me, who support the program in the good and bad times, fall victim to the "business" (as opposed to customer concept) UT currently employees.

If this "business" model continues I think a lot of fans, like me, are going to get to the point of saying "no thanks" to season tickets. You can only take advantage of people so many times before it starts having a negative impact. Right now we have high expectations so the "fair weather fans" are picking up the slack. However, in the long run, this approach is going to hurt season ticket sales. Wait and see!

I personally know several people who have stopped buying season tickets for the reasons stated above.

But you have to understand that the "business" that you dislike so much is what allows the program to be as successful as it is. Ticket sales and donations are responsible for more than 2/3 of all the revenue that the UTAD brings in. It's far more than sponsorships, more than TV, more than the SEC disbursement.

So if you want the program to "value" the fans and give them a good deal, then you're going to have to accept inferior facilities, losing coaches to schools that can pay more and generally less support than other schools. Is that what you want in return for lower prices?

UT isn't gouging fans to accumulate wealth. They are maximizing the value of their product so they can continue to have a product worth spending money on. Some of the same people (and I'm not saying you specifically) that complain about ticket prices are the one that line up every year saying the AD should pay whatever they have to i order to keep coaches and dish out raises like they're candy.

Like it or not, running a successful athletics program is in fact a business. There's no way around that. I'm sorry that strategy puts season tickets out of your price range, but I would rather be Tennessee and hurt a few peoples' feelings because of "business" than be Mississippi State and hope to have a good season every 3-4 years and pray that another school doesn't come to steal our coaches.

You make some excellent points and I have to say I agree about 80%. I am just saying catering to the "average Vol fan" is a better long term strategy. This is capitalism and I am for it 100%. UT has the right to use whatever model they choose. Further, as a customer I have every right to purchase tickets the way I choose.

Bottom line, it is my opinion UT is short sighted on it's business approach to fans. Longer term approach, I believe, would generate more money for the university. Maybe I am wrong and it certainly would not be the first time.

What's crazy is that they called my dad and told him that the 3 seats next to us had opened up, and they wanted to know if he wanted them. The obvious answer is yes. But my dad hesitated, and said he would call them back in 5 minutes. He called back in 3 minutes, and they were gone. So we would have had 7 in a row in EE, but instead we have 4 in EE and 2 in FF.

I recently noticed my priority number seems a little higher (better) than I expected and overall numbers seem a little down. There is still time for more sales obviously. Does anyone have any info. on season ticket sales?
For those that are looking, it seems like the full allotment is now finally showing on the official site. Plenty of lower levels available (although most in endzone).

I was told a couple weeks ago they were within 300 of selling out season tickets... Tennessee Fund contact. they are up to almost 13K donors

Thanks for the information! If this is correct, I understood everything the lady explained to me and she never explained the "non-renewable" part. In fact, if this is true then my already low opinion of the ticket office just got lower. I am a loyal vol fan who has a strong disdain for the "business" side of the way they operate. Just like building those high dollar box seats for the rich and corporations.

The average fan suffers just for the sake of some quick bucks. To me the better business model would be to take care of the average fan and build the base. Yes UT will make the money in the short term but in the long run Vol fans will stop financially supporting the program and stay home and watch on TV!

Another example was when they started charging STUDENTS for tickets! Before the arguement comes, I don't care what other schools do!!!

the boxes you speak of do not come from the donations for season tickets. Those are funded by capital projects with different donation streams.

that donation money is used to fund the athletic programs, scholarships, travel, housing, recruiting, coaching salaries, etc. without those donations UT athletics would quickly (football more specifically) turn into Vanderbilt football. Lots of 2 star players since we couldn't fund recruiting.

they will only have whatever Florida returns and don't use. upper level south endzone. per my Fund contact

I wouldn't expect many gator fans this year. They know what's gonna happen. A Gator Stomp.

I noticed that as well, but IIRC the rankings had almost 14k last year, I'm wondering if donors are grabbing more seats than previously, I know I grabbed 2 more. Tried to get some of the AA, BB,EE,FF seats but never were available. Those are excellent bang for your buck seats

My account on the Tennessee Fund sites only has 12,472 donors. where they show where you rank within the donor base. that is current listing which will be updated after season tickets are purchased.

Have to consider the dealine they had for donations to be paid. Apparently if you didn't make it by March 1st you lose your rank and it's listed as N/A. So I'm sure there's more people who will end up paying.

I saw this as well I like lot 40 which is low on what most preferred and got it last year in the summer. Went ahead and put my parking application in. Do you guys think I will have any issue getting it again?

You shouldn't have any issues getting it again. I think there are a little over 1,000 new parking spaces (new garage, etc.) so if anything you could move up if you wanted. I like AG better than 40 just because you can get to the lot going to the games much faster, and don't have to wait in a long line.

AG would be my next choice. We always walk instead of the shuttle. Real easy to get back on interstate when leaving lot 40 to head south. Do you think they have more shuttle buses running from the AG. Also, is it easy to get out when leaving? What do you think? And, what are you making reference too on not having to wait in a long line?

As far as going to the game Just exiting the highway to get to the parking lot, seems like about. A 20 minute wait for 40, where AG was basically a straight shot. Ag is a bigger lot so probably more shuttles, but more importantly across the street from all the busses that are in the circle. Both are ok. Just seems a little smoother for me getting to and from AG, 40 is a nice easy exit for sure though.

When I parked in lot 40 I'd come in and exit from Concord and the Tyson Park parking would be only $10 and would be all of 50 yards from where I'd park. $10 a game is surely cheaper than parking passes

At 125, it is cheaper but nice to know you have a space if running behind

I am debating on whether to get a parking pass. I normally park free at 500 state street garage, market sq, or collesium or pay to get decent tailgate place. I have been thinking of getting a parking pass at AG. Is it hard to get in and out to interstate 40 and how early do I have to get there to have a decent tailgating spot? If not I got a low rank of a little more than 9000... is there anymore places better than AG with that rank?
