Tennessee @ California. Cal has payback on their mind, but a senior quarterback threads the inexperienced Cal D. It is going to be a shootout, 41-34. Southern Mississippi @ Tennessee. This game will be a lot closer than people think but UT @ home wins 24-10. Tennessee travels to The Swamp for game 3 versus an extremely young and talented Gator squad. Erik Ainge's senior leadrship leads the Vols past FLA 34-24. Next, Arkansas State comes to town and this is a team who got beat 55-9 by SMU last year. Uh, yeah, Tennessee rolls 41-0. An off week then comes the mighty Georgia Bulldogs. UGA will be much improved as Matt Stafford will be an All-SEC performer. The Dawgs are 3-0 at Neyland Stadium under Mark Richt. Not this year, as Erik Ainge continues to march the Vols to an SEC East title by winning 28-21. Next, the Vols travel to a weak Mississippi State team, and win easily 35-14. Next is Alabama. Alabama will be improved with JP Wilson and Nick Saban. It is going to be a defensive slugfest as Tennessee takes it 17-14. South Carolina comes to town next and this will be a very solid bowl team. USC will play tough, but not in the house Neyland built, Vols win 31-24. Next up for the Vols is the worst team we have played since Duke. Lafayette is atrocious on both sides of the ball, as Tennessee physically dominates this game 49-0. The Vols then have payback on their mind against McFadden and Arkansas on Rocky Top, as the Vols win 34-21. Then Vandy comes to town with a good Qb in Chris Nixson, just not enough talent to compete with the Vols, as Tennessee takes Vandy down 38-17. Tennessee travels to a loud Commonwealth Stadium to take on a good Kentuckt team, with an all-SEC Qb. The vols better not be looking towards LSU or Kentucky can upset here, but Ainge, as he will do all season, leads the Vols to a 24-14 victory and the Vols fans are headed to the SEC title game and a chance to play mighty USC in the national title game. Tennessee vs. LSU. Georgia Dome. Saturday night. Primetime. 12-0 vs. 12-0. UT fans remember 2001. UT fans have already bought their national title tickets, but LSU is the best team UT has seen all year as Ainge and the Vols are heartbroken as LSU takes the vols down 24-16. The Vols defeat West Virginia in the Sugar Bowl 30-23.

Sounds great...but even if we got to the Sugar Bowl, West Virginia would make us look silly with their run game...

I have seen several threads on here re: predictions for UT's upcoming season. Some even go game by game. Here is the bottom line on the Vols 07 football hopes: it will be the tale of 3 monthly chapters.

September losses will most certainly breed October losses....which will lead to inevitable November embarrassments.

In other words, the entire hopes of the season ride on @ Cal and @ Fla in Sept. We lose those, get ready to lose vs. UGA and @ Bama. Once this happens, the wheels will have completely come off, and possible losses to UK or Vandy will become likely.

On the other hand, if UT goes to Berkely and returns with a W, the game in the Swamp becomes that much more important. Win both, and things look very favorable with UGA coming in and visiting Tuscaloosa in October.

I don't believe I have ever seen a schedule line up so symetrically for a Volunteer football team, and a coach that desperately needs to succeed this year. Fulmer's status could be defined longterm by a 15 day stretch that begins 70 days from today. Win and hope springs eternal....lose both and we will begin eating our young. :cray:

Interesting but true. There is a lot riding on every season but this season seems a bit different. Early wins could be enough to ride the win train for the rest of the season and who knows where we could end up. Lose one of the first two and there will be a lot of mumbling in Big Orange country and the rest of the season is a crap shoot but if we lose to both Cal and Fla, watch out. It may not seem like the beginning of the end but in essence it very well could be for the season and a few coaches.

Just trying to avoid another 100 page arguement when there is plenty of argueing going on in other threads.:thumbsup:

I honestly think LSU will play you guys in the SEC Championship game this year. Fulmer knows what is riding on this season and he, Cut and Chavis will have the Vols ready to play. Could set up for a hell of a championship game in December.

You may be right tiger, you may be right. I think that anyone saying that we are going to go 6-6 or 7-5 is off their rocker.

I think it'd be awesome if we ran either the spread option of the wing-t/flexbone with Gerald at QB for a couple of plays a game :yes:
