So what kind of odds would you give me for a bet of OVER 7 wins?

Not gonna speculate on a bowl yet

You don't have to speculate. With this outcome, Tennessee would either be in the BCS or the National Title game, depending on other teams. I would bet the Sugar Bowl.

Losing to bammer and beating UGA and LSU? Your "objective" view might work better if you changed your name.

I'm a veteran of the sportsbook business too. I have watched them take lots of my $$.

If you're a veteran in the sportsbook business, you may want to take personal bias out of your choices. For instance, I won't bet a single UT line this upcoming season.

As has been mentioned, we are a quarter of the way on the season. And there is another thread asking folks to pick the rest of the way.

So, why not dredge up everyone's picks from before the season began....

Good to see this brought up. I would say some opinions have been changed already. I think we should qoute our original projections and make new predictions. I'll start I'm not going into scores just WINS and LOSSES.

Tenn 28- Cal 21
Tenn 35- AF 7
Tenn 17- Fla 24
Tenn 38- Mar 3
Tenn 24- Mem 10
Tenn 17- UGA 14
Tenn 27- Ala 14
Tenn 31- SC 17
Tenn 21- LSU 35
Tenn 28- Ark 14
Tenn 45- Vandy 3
Tenn 35- Uk 7

10-2 Tied for the East but Florida goes since they beat us.
Cotton Bowl versus Texas Tech win 24-14

I would leave it the same but would like to see at least one more game from UGA before making that call. If I had to pick today I still say we win it. I would change the bowl game though if we win out except for LSU, I think we could get a BCS at large bid.

That is, assuming that ND has the meltdown they seem to be having, and no mid-major is up there to take one of the at-larges.

That's more wishful thinking than anything, but I think we'll still make a respectable bowl. It would make for a good storyline if we go 10-2 after last year and we all know how much the media loves a good story. Ask ND how they made it last year.

yes, lots of optimism indeed...

Cal...W 24-20
AF...W 31-13
UF...L 27-20
Mar...W 34-13
Mem...W 38-10
UGA...W 20-10
Bama...w 24-21
USC...w 30--14
LSU...L 24-13
ARK..L 17-10
Vandy...W 28-7
UK..W 34-10

9-3, probably playing in the Outback, Peach or cotton bowl.

Of course, we could win the ARK game, and lose to Cal, UGA or Bama as well....but i still don't see us losing more than 3 games....
thru four games, i was pretty close on the offensive scoring for us, in three of them anyway, and so far, the record is the same...right now, i think things are going as planned, though i admit, ARK doesn't scare me as much as they did prior to the season...i still think that's a sticky game late in the season after a HUGE home game against LSU, but that is a game we should win.

and i still think we can beat UGA...but i won't be suprised if we lost it either...they won't play another game this season as bad as that one against Colorado....

biggest concerns are the same as when the season started--O line is 1, and front 7 is 2. We need to get better on both fronts quickly.

At this point, I think we "should" win every remaining game on the schedule except the LSU game. I think we "can" win that game, but I watched the LSU game and that defense is great and the offense has some big weapons. I think it will actually be a low scoring game and a big break at the right time could allow us to steal that game. I think Alabama, Arkansas, South Carolina, and even Georgia wil have problems with us on both sides of the ball. Georgia is obviously still very good, but I think our defense can stop their offense and we will be able to throw on them. Alabama, Arkansas, and South Carolina are below the level expected.

i agree with this...except i would put the UGA game as a can win, not a should win. but, i'm like you, the only game left on the schudule i expect to lose is the LSU game.

LSU's D scares the heck out of me if we can't be balanced in that game they will murder us.

While I agree that LSU's defense is good, they've only played one meaningful game so far and they lost it. The rest of their schedule has been pretty easy.

I guess my point is that their defense is obviously going to appear to be super tough when playing teams such as Louisiana Lafeyette, Arizona and Tulane.

Again, I think their defense is plenty good, I just think some of their numbers are puffed up at this point.

that Auburn game was pretty convincing to me... cause it ain't like Auburn sucks....held them to 7 points, and it wasn't fluky....

I know, but they didn't win that one. Besides, Auburn hasn't really played anyone decent other than LSU.

They have played Washington St, Miss St, and Buffalo. It's kind of hard to guage how good they really are until they get into a tougher part of their schedule too.

See what I'm saying?

yeah...i do...i guess i'm believing the hype about both teams.

i view that game like i view the TN/UF game...you can get a good barometer of both teams by seeing them play each other. and what i took away from it was that LSU and Auburn aren't that far apart.

but, still, you are correct. Auburn is coming up on a pretty decent 3 game stretch with USC, ARK, UF...and LSU doesn't have anyone except UF in the next three games...LSU's season won't be written til the end, when they close with TN, Bama, Ole Miss and ARK.

So early, there is no telling who some our starters will be at this point. I'll have to reserve the right to "re-evaluate" this later, but for now:

California-31 Tennessee-34
Air Force-17 Tennessee-45
Florida-23 Tennessee-24
Marshall-13 Tennessee-48
Memphis-16 Tennessee-31
Georgia-27 Tennessee-28
Alabama-9 Tennessee-35
South Carolina-17 Tennessee-27
LSU-?? Tennessee-?? (score unknown but UT will win by 3 in OT)
Arkansas-24 Tennessee-30
Vanderbilt-13 Tennessee-55
Kentucky-16 Tennessee-37

I don't really exepct UT to go undefeated but this is my best homerish guess on a game-by-game basis.

Okay, GA. I did see in another prediction thread where I said I thought the Vols could drop 5 games but I knew I remembered posting this as well.

I believe the offensive line will come around by September. Assuming that happens, and given our home schedule, the season looks very bright from underneath my "T" ballcap....

Sept. 2 California.. Fly to Knoxville and beat our defense. Nope. 28-17

Sept. 9 Air Force.. Again, our Defense. They never get off the ground. 34-6

Sept. 16 Florida.. Better early games than usual make us better prepared. Urban's "They folded up there" comment makes the fans better prepared.
But, as always, its about running game in this one and ours will prevail. 30-23

Sept. 23 Marshall..score, whatever we have at halftime plus 10 more from the 2nd 3rd string in the second half.

Sept. 30 at Memphis.. We play crappy. Always seems we do over there. Still, it's Memphis for cripes sake. 24-6

Oct. 7 at Georgia.. Enough Foster/Hardesty to wind up with a "W". 24-21

Oct. 21 Alabama.. My favorite game always. A war. We win. Barely. 17-13

Oct. 28 at South Carolina.. Trick or treat! A banged up D-line can't get to the QB. Everything's going wrong. Ainge makes a real name for himself with a game winning drive. 31-27

Nov. 4 LSU.. Loss number one.

Nov. 11 at Arkansas.. The Hogs really hate us. We seem to play poorly against their physical BS for some reason. Loss number two.

Nov. 18 at Vanderbilt.. You lose. Now shut the heck up! 35-10

Nov. 25 Kentucky.. Fundamental football from the reserves. The starters are resting for..
Dec. 2 SEC Championship.. Tennessee vs. Auburn

I picked the LSU and Arky losses, thought we'd get the Gators, and make it to the SEC championship though.

I'm still bitter about the poor preparation for Arkansas...
