Season prediction after game 1

Feel like there's improvement to be done, obviously on offense, but if they work that out we should have a solid season. You never know with Tennessee though..

I had 9-3, but will go 8-4 now. That offense is a disaster. Can't block, can't throw, can't get open, with a conservative OC & coach. We will get demolished by good SEC teams without serious improvements in the trenches.

8-4, and I got jumped for saying if Butch loses 4 games he'd be on the Hot Seat. As far as I'm concerned, he's on the Hot Seat today.

Debord is out of his element, and its not just on him...Butch gets most of the blame for this IMO. But Debord is the worst Power 5 OC in the country.

I still think we win 10-11 even with Dobbs but if we go 8-4 Butch's seat should be the hottest in the country

I still have us at 9-3. The offense was vanilla. Dobb's rarely kept the ball until we needed him to late in the game to win the game. The defense made adjustments and really shut them down late in the first half and the whole second half. We made a ton of mistakes and we got lucky with their field goal kicker, the O-line needs to get better and shore things up and Dobb's needs to play better. They say that your biggest improvement is between your 1st and 2nd game. I'm still optimistic about the year, but my opinion may change after the next couple of games.

I am going with the team buying the hype, the coaches thinking we could play it safe and cruise to a win, and the usual hiccups and first game jitters / sloppiness. If those things are true and we fix them then the sky (or Alabama) is the limit. If that is not the case, get ready for a rough season. We won't play that sloppy and win again with our schedule.

What we saw last night is not a playoff caliber team. I do think the makings of such a team are there though, just time for everyone to put it together. A killer season will demand everyone's best effort, more than they have shown us so far but I think they can be a juggernaut with all cylinders firing.

No numbers because I refuse to believe that what we witnessed vs Appy will define the character and capability of this team. Bristol should be revealing one way or another.

App State should have won the game. Just pointing out that it doesn't change the talent this team has. Vols got caught looking ahead, with a vanilla game plan, against a decent team that came to win.

After our first game I understand some criticism towards Debord but this is the same OC that everyone was saying was a solid hire all off season. I believe come next week we will see our dynamic offense pick up where we left off in Tampa. Staying with 10-2

We talked about it another thread some. I'm up $200 after the game. Didn't think we would by no means cover. And we all saw the final score.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and stick with 10-2 for now. But, if the oline actually is as bad as they looked Thursday night, that prediction could change radically after next week's game.

Yes, I do think we would do much better with another QB. It is obvious that any defense does not have to respect our passing game this year and can concentrate on the run. Apply State was begging us to pass the ball. You think Appy State defense was good then just wait until you see these SEC defensive coordinators stack 8 men in the box and play press coverage.

I do not understand the hype this team has received since we do not have a SEC quality QB on the field.

It's hard to argue with the stats and facts. From 14-15 we seen improvement in nearly every area. The only thing that bothers me is the painfully predictable play calling. Here's hoping he throws the playbook at VT and every one else this season.

In 2028, I predict a rebuilding year yields a 9-3 season with a trip to the Facebook Bowl in San Jose to face the University of Phoenix *****ing Trolls. The team will fly there in the anti-gravity hovercraft designed by Josh Dobbs.

Seriously, it's a long season and the team will improve. I think the poor performance was a wake up call and this veteran group will recover. I predict we go 10-2 losing two out of 4 during the meat grinder part of the scheduler.

This week is in the books. On to Bristol, baby and the Gobblers.

What was your reasoning why you didn't think we would cover? Just betting history when it comes to UT? Do you typically bet against UT?

Once again, Tennessee played to the level of its' competition. A 5 loss season is not out of the question, neither is 4 or 3.
