I will be in Kentucky over Labor Day. We are going to stay in a cabin. The cabin has DirecTV, and I checked with the owner of the cabin about paying to watch the
Tennessee game. I just need to pay her in advance before she calls DirecTV to order it for me.

Anyhow, here is my question..I will be about 15 miles from the Tennessee state line. I assume that if I buy ESPN Gameplan for that weekend the game will be on there. However, I just want to make sure that I do not need to get the game on pay per view, like residents in Tennessee will have to do. Is the state line the cut off for having to buy the game pay per view? Will being that close to the Tennessee state line make it a blackout on Gameplan?

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure it is just the state of Tennessee that is blacked out, but if it was me I would contact DirecTV and ask to make sure...

Good question. Unfortunately, we won't know until the week of the game. I'm from Memphis, but live in Atlanta. There have been plenty of times over the past couple of years where a game has been blacked out on Game Plan in Atlanta and I've had to run to a bar and pay a fee to see the game (see: Bama 2 years ago). When you look at the ESPN black-out map, it sometimes covers just Tennessee, and other times it will include all of Tennessee plus some of Kentucky, and a good bit of Georgia, including Atlanta. I think it also depends on whether there's national coverage of the game, which there obviously won't be for UTM.

I bring my anxiety level down about 1,000 if I just listen to these games on the radio. I highly recommend.

I can't believe they still have black outs for football games in Tennessee? I live in Houston and they stopped blacking out all college and pro games here back in the 80's. If you have a computer you can watch the game for free at Live Channels - Sports - English

I would like to order the first game of the season on directv pay-per-view. I've looked everywhere on the net and can't find anything that will allow me to order the game without getting the whole ESPN Gameplan package. Does anyone know if I can get just the one game without having to pay for the who package?

Depends - if your internet provider is in TN, then no, ESPN360 is required to block the game for you because of the blackout. I learned that for the Ohio game. If you look hard enough, their will be people streaming it though...

What if my ESPN account is associated with an internet provider (charter) in Tennessee (which allows me to access 360 unlike TW here in Austin) but I'm accessing the site from Texas? Will it be blacked out for me?

It should be based on the IP address you're connecting from, so you should be fine.

A little more info I found out. The DirecTV provider is based out of Nashville. Does anyone how that would work as far as being ESPN Gameplan? I will be in Ketucky, but the DirecTV I will be watching has Nashville as "home". I will be out of the state of Tennessee, but will have a Tennessee provider. So I am not sure what to think?
