Media Matters - Hannity to Democrats: "tay home on Election Day ... for the sake of the nation"

On the October 18 edition of his nationally syndicated radio program, Fox News host Sean Hannity encouraged Democratic voters to "stay home on Election Day," adding that, "your vote doesn't matter anyway." He added that Democrats should not turn out to vote "for the sake of the nation" because Democrats' votes "won't change who occupies the White House" and Democratic "candidates have absolutely no idea how to win the war on terrorism." Hannity also appeared to predict he would be criticized for his remarks, stating: "This is how the press is going to report this: 'Hannity says Democrats should stay home on Election Day.' " He did not explain how that would be a mischaracterization of his comments.
Also during the program, Hannity misrepresented the Democratic Party platform, stating: "I don't think abandoning our troops on the battlefield or closing your eyes to enemy communications or listening to enemy communications in our country, or killing the economy, or supporting illegal immigration, I don't think that's something to run on."
From the October 18 edition of ABC Radio Networks' The Sean Hannity Show:
HANNITY: Now, one other thing here. You know what? I think some of you need to stay home on Election Day. What? That's right. I think -- I know it sounds terrible. I don't want everybody to vote; I want well-informed people to vote. You know what we're gonna do on our man-on-the-street segment tomorrow, man-on-the-street Thursday? I'm gonna have three pictures -- Nancy Pelosi, Dennis Hastert, and Harry Reid -- and I'm gonna ask people if they know who they are. And you know what I bet? I bet you nobody knows. But I think -- look, I think for some, I think you've gotta accept -- and I want you to stay home on Election Day because you must accept the fact that your party has abandoned you. You've gotta accept the fact that your vote doesn't matter anyway. So all you Democrats, stay home. So, you know, why don't you stay home on Election Day? This is how the press is going to report this: "Hannity says Democrats should stay home on Election Day." After all, your vote won't change who occupies the White House. Your candidates have absolutely no ideas how to win the war on terrorism. The only ideas that they espouse are ways to undermine the troops in harm's way and undermine their commander in chief while they're at war. Your candidates have no idea how to keep this economy strong.

Sean Hannity is a moron, and a worthless human being.

He does exactly what he is paid to do, nothing more and nothing less.

The same can be said for Colmes also....................

It is a TV political show, what do you expect him to say.....?

Having listened that day, it was VERY CLEAR that Hannity was being more than a bit sarcastic.

Feel free to hate him anyway… in fact you can call the Hate Hannity hotline

So we got Democratic staffers giving state secretes to the New York Times
We got Democratic Congressman with 100k in the freezer and not only refuses to resign, but will be reelected.
The Democratic leader in the Senate hides million is ‘questionable’ land deals and nobody care.

For your viewing pleasure, stupid democrat quotes.....

"We can build a collective civic space large enough for all our separate identities, that we can be e pluribus unum -- out of one, many." Al Gore (points for those that know what’s wrong)

“They don't call me Tyrannosaurus Sex for nothing." —Ted Kennedy

“The attractive lady whom I had only recently been introduced to dropped into my lap....I chose not to dump her off." —Former Senator and presidential candidate Gary Hart, on his encounter with Donna Rice

"We know that he (Saddam) has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country." Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002.

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998.

"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies." Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999.

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force-- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002.

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security." -- Hillary Clinton, October 10, 2002

"This [cooling] trend will reduce agricultural productivity for the rest of the century" -- Peter Gwynne, Newsweek 1976

If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder by the year 2000...This is about twice what it would take to put us in an ice age." -- Kenneth E.F. Watt on air pollution and global cooling, Earth Day (1970)

I'd say the chances are about 50-50 that humanity will be extinct or nearly extinct within 50 years. Weapons of mass destruction, disease, I mean this global warming is scaring the living daylights out of me.”
– CNN founder Ted Turner at an Associated Press Managing Editors seminar

''The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not 'insurgents' or 'terrorists' or 'The Enemy.' They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow -- and they will win.'' Michael Moore on his website April 14 2004

''You're stuck with being connected to this country of mine, which is known for bringing sadness and misery to places around the globe.'' MIchael Moore to a Crowd in Cambridge

White people scare the crap out of me. … I have never been attacked by a black person, never been evicted by a black person, never had my security deposit ripped off by a black landlord, never had a black landlord … never been pulled over by a black cop, never been sold a lemon by a black car salesman, never seen a black car salesman, never had a black person deny me a bank loan, never had a black person bury my movie, and I've never heard a black person say, 'We're going to eliminate ten thousand jobs here - have a nice day!'
Michael Moore

These bastards who run our country are a bunch of conniving, thieving, smug pricks who need to be brought down and removed and replaced with a whole new system that we control.

Phil Donahue: “Let me tell you what is impressive. You're not wearing a flag. Well, I don't want to damn you with my praise, but I say hip-hip-hooray for that, and I think you gave the right answer when you spoke at Northwestern University. Remember what you said? Did somebody ask you, say ‘why didn't you wear a flag?'”
Tom Brokaw: “Right. I said, you know, I wear a flag in my heart, but I think if you wear a flag, it's a suggestion somehow that you're endorsing what the administration is doing at the time. And I don't think journalists ought to be wearing flags.”
Donahue: “And I say hear, hear.”
— Phil Donahue and Tom Brokaw on on MSNBC's Donahue, July 25.

"We've been treated to some astonishingly vile images over the last two weeks: Office workers hurling themselves into a 100-floor-high abyss. A gaping, smoldering hole in the financial center of our greatest city. George W. Bush passing himself off as a patriot, even as he disassembles the Constitution with the voracious glee of piranha skeletonizing a cow. ... It may have seemed meaningless at the time, but now we know why 7,000 people sacrificed their lives: So that we'd all forget how Bush stole a presidential election." -- Cartoonist Ted Rall, Philadelphia City Paper, September 27

“The lie that brought us into war was that Iraq was a threat to us....It was an attempt at a corporate takeover. This was about oil. It wasn't about human rights. It's not about human rights....It is the Bush/Cheney cartel's fault....Team Bush is more radically corrupt than Richard Nixon ever tried to be....It is, in fact, a conspiracy of the 43rd Reich.”
– Left-wing activist Janeane Garofalo on CNN's Crossfire Aug. 20, halfway through her week as the show's co-host.

"The real terrorist threats are George W. Bush and his band of brown-shirted thugs." -- Sandra Bernhard

Quite a few of all parties couldn't handle that. There were a few Republicans who voted for more than one person as well. Buchanan AND Bush??? Come on...

If he is paid to be an arrogant, bullheaded jerk, then I agree.

Colmes also is made to look like the "liberal" on the show, I can't say I agree with that.

Maybe something with substance? Then again, pundits on both sides lack substance.

Having not listened that day, it is not very clear to me that Hannity was being sarcastic. Having heard Hannity spout off for years, it would in no way surprise me had he not been.

Hate is a strong word, I heartily dislike him.

Either side is terrible, I think it is sad just to single out one side and run with it.

A politician is a politician, nothing more and nothing less.

Bush is his own seperate argument, God love him!

Hannity has always been someone who play's for the team and says what is required of him to either get ratings or the blessing from a higher power....in the case of now the WH.

Listen to him talk both on TV and radio and he never has anything of substance to offer on his own. He is one of the chief regurgitators of someone else's thoughts. If you pin him down on facts and hold his feet to the fire, he collapses. I saw him at a convention being taken behind the woodshed by a very disgruntled Republican. All he could do is stutter, turn red, and have his handler pull him away before he was embarrassed in front of a growing crowd.

Hannity was at our church during the last presidential election with Billy Cunningham, out of WLW in Cincy, and J.C. Watts.

I wasn't to impressed with Hannity, even his Bill Clinton impersonation was terrible.

He really has to be in a controlled, friendly environment to actually sound decent. And then sometimes he gets a little TOO comfortable and delivers some of the cheesiest lines I've heard heard spoken.

I never have been too much of a Hannity fan going all the way back to his days on 640 out of Atlanta. He's completely predictable. If I know what he's going to say, why do I need to watch?

Poor fella does take a beating, I love it when he goes off on his rants.

I found this from one of your fellow republicans.......in 1954 he was against pay raises for the military......what do you have to say to that?

Colmes is probably a conservative just planted to make liberals look worse than they are. He's awful.

Yes. His obsession with Courtney Love and his virginity pledge he made kids promise on air were classic. Funny thing was that he really got his start in AL right before ATL. How in the #$@$ someone with that voice makes it in Bama is beyond me.
