I have to say that I don't disagree with the assessment. And really, our strengths way outweigh our weaknesses.

Post-spring strengths and weaknesses: Tennessee

Strengths:
Running backs
Linebackers
Hiring Shoop

Weaknesses:
Oline shuffled in Spring because of injuries. He did say it's hard to find a weakness, guess that is the one. Will they gel?

Quarterback Depth: We have some inexperienced QB's but very highly rated.

Not being able to put away top teams last year. Not sure how this is a weakness after Spring so....

Again. All of that is true. But we look damn good right now and I'm looking forward to this season. It could be a special one.

Medley was good at the end of the year, but 100% agree PASSING GAME is not at the level of a top tier team.

Can't have an average passing game and call ourselves WRU. We'll get it back.

Medley was better at the end of the year when the pressure to make a kick in a game that mattered was gone IMO. He still stands as one of the worst kickers in school history from beyond 40 yards. He was 1-7 from 40+ yards last year through the Bama game, i.e., the most important, most difficult part of our schedule.

After two seasons, he's now 6-18 from beyond 40+ yards (includes 0-3 from 50+). He's been great on extra points and inside 40 yards, that's the good news....but he's gotta get better.

Jmo, but I do believe he's a potential weakness (certainly in comparison to the other strengths we have throughout all other position groups) for the team going into 2016 and must get much better...we have to be able to rely on him if our offense stalls at the opposition's 23-35 or so yard line vs the better teams we play. Thus far, after two full seasons, we haven't been able to.

We should ask Northwestern if they felt like we had any problems doing this.

Our weakness is learning how to keep from playing not to lose and sitting on leads

Totally agree but I think the difference in our defensive game planning will help in that area also.

But as you say if we keep on with our offense we shouldn't have to worry. Hypothetically if in a game we do continue with our regular offense while we have a nice lead and have a couple of turnovers how many people on here will ***** and say that's why we brought Shoop in to have a defense that can hold the lead?

I would guess quite a few and could probably name a few without much thought.

Much better to ask them, Vandy, and Kentucky than to ask.....say......Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama and Arkansas.....all teams that we had a 2 TD lead against and/or led in the 4th quarter against.

How they can call our QB depth a weakness is beyond comprehension. At least three of those QBs could start at more than half of the power 5 schools.

I was initially surprised that they rated LBs a strength and not DL or even Secondary. But JRM and Kirkland are top shelf and we usually only use 2 LBs. Hybrid Austin Smith is another Maggitt prototype.

If Tuttle comes back healthy and we get Alexis Johnson back, our Dline will be studly. I can't remember ever having such a backlog of great players at DE.

Secondary is loaded with talent but somewhat light on experience, mainly at safety.

How did return teams not make the list as a strength?

Also, I don't think author knows just how well J.Jones and C. Hall played last year right out of the box.

If I were going to rate a weakness, it would be WRs and sending Croom to TE might open things up for WRs.
