Scroggins Commits to USC

I still can't believe that people think being the backup at USC is a bad thing. He'll start 2 years, probably. And it'll be his prime. Barkley will be gone and Scroggins will play his RS junior and senior years. Hell, if Barkley leaves early, he'll have 3 years of eligibilty without Barkley there. There's no reason Scroggins would look at this as a bad situation.

Yea right. Next year USC will get another top 5 QB, only this time it will be a 5 star. I doubt Scroggins will ever play.

Wow! Where was I when all the orange tinted glasses were handed out. Each time UT misses out on a QB it becomes more and more crucial to sign one. Hell, at this point considering the depth chart the coaches more than likely would prefer two or three commits. All this stuff about the coaches plan is bologna. They are missing out and getting out recruited each time. If their "plan" would have fell into place this QB dilema would have been over months ago and they could use the QB to attract the athletes to put around him.

Also, there is a slim chance that a QB changes his commitment. Sure other positions do it all the time but rarely do QB's. I'm sure it happens but not often enough to say that it will. Kiffin better hope a QB falls in his lap and turns out to be a player otherwise he'll be out of here before whoever he does end up recruiting graduates.

So a 5-7 season and the fact that the previous staff left us with a thin O-line and basically no serviceable receivers have nothing to do with the QB recruiting?

If kiffin fails at UT I think he can look at when he told tajh boyd to look elsewhere as the moment it all went to hell

I think its time to put the full court press on brunetti, bring in lamiason and worry about next year QB wise.

The question I want answered is, how many posters on Volnation lost their lunch money over a bet JS would commit to the Vols today?

It was down to the wire between the USC juggernaut and a 5-7 team 3000 miles away. That's getting "out-recruited"?

GO VOLS

My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

it has been a while since I watched Animal House, but I will say it and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, have some of the best lines of any movies.

As to the drinking advice...I started drinking "heavier" on fall Saturdays in 05, and was ready for a liver transplant by Oct. 26th of 08!!

My hope is that when our QBs are announced for 10 I am not quoting Butch..."Who are those guys!"
And, for one more, I hope CLK "Has visions where the rest of the world wears bifocals!"

GO VOLS:dance2:

Excuses are for losers. If he's going to "go after the best of the best" then he's going to be competing against the best. He should know which battles to pick and when to look elsewhere. The fact is he lost this kid and lost several before him. Use all the excuses you want but the Vols don't have a decent QB on roster, on campus, or even on deck and that is a PROBLEM. Take off the shades and put down the kool-aid.

Even if Boyd amounts to nothing at Clemson?
Boyd just came back from an acl tear in 6 months because he works his butt off. With his work ethic and dedication he will be a good QB. And besides wouldn't you rather have him, a better version of brunetti, than not?

Oh yeah CLK has it all planned out. He sees everything two years ahead of everyone else.

A bird in hand's worth two in the bush. And that kid is definatley worth the two we have in hand right now.

Anyone who thought Tennessee had a chance with Scroggins after USC offered is moronic, plain and simple. Tennessee was a fall back plan if USC did not offer and nothing more. I've said it before and it's coming true. We will not attract a top rated QB until they see first hand what we can do on the field and how they would fit in to the offense. Also Chaney should have the title as QB coach. He has a proven track record of developing top notch QB'sin college and getting them to the next level. Reeves is nothing more than a family hire on what otherwise is an outstanding staff. If he remains in his curent role we may very well struggle to land a high profile signal called in 2010.

You have to have the kid before you can "lose" him. Saying that CLK "lost" this kid is pretty tells me that you have no clue about recruiting.

Don't forget a staff that has been on the job for 6 months and has not coached a game yet. But hey, TennesseeT is the expert
