Scroggins at USC Camp Video

I just don't see any reason why he'd want to be Barkley's backup when he would be our starter from day one.

i dont like it either, but he said he doesnt mind competition. besides, backups still get championship rings anyways... : (

I like a kid that's not scared of competition, but if he goes to USC and gets beat out by Barkley, he'd just want to transfer the next year. So, why not walk right in to Tenn. and make a splash with all the rest of the new talent we're getting? Doesn't make sense to me if he decides to go to USC .

Geez...did anyone else not see all of the dropped passes in that vidoe??? Pretty bad on the receivers considering it was no pads. His throws were all right on the money, though.

Even if he committed today, you still wouldn't feel safe until he signs on the dotted line.

Thats what I was thinking. Hope these aren't the WR's we are recruiting.

I agree. I suspect there's a great chance that he reverses his committment whichever way he starts.

For that reason, I'm glad he's taking some time after camp to decide, but he's got an entire season of football to second guess his initial choice.

you will RARELY see a QB de-commit.. unless a coaching change occurs at the school he is committed to or something like that.. for some reason, QB's just don't really de-commit. They make their decision and its almost always final.

One of things to take into consideration when thinking about "why would he want to be a backup at USC if he could start here"... Matt Cassel spent his entire career at USC as a backup qb never starting a game only to get drafted in the 7th round by the New England Patriots.

Don't think that this isn't told to recruits at USC especially QB's, "here at USC even our 4 year backups get drafted."

there is truth to that, and im sure he's heard that story...a thousand times over. but, here at UT, we can tell him that our first string QB's get drafted too...

Not exactly a shining testimonial to a kid who wants to be a star and has the skills to be one.

It is and it isn't. It says that there's no politics, the best player plays no matter what. For someone who isn't afraid of competition that says to him that both USC and Tennessee offer the possibility to be a starter from day one. What Tennessee offers is the ability to be a starter from day one without having to compete for it.

eh, what UT is offering is the "savior of the program." i wonder if thats playing against his decision at all :dunno:

Two have decommitted from the Vols within the past 10 years....Chris Simms and Josh Nunes.

Where did you see he is a USC lean?

If you go to recruiting forum and read through Scroggins' thread, many of the "experts" from VolNation feel he is leaning towards USC. Since I do not have the time to research the information and they are right more times than they are wrong, I trust their opinion

We always seem to land some great receivers and DB's from time to time and especially running backs and athletes. Why in the world can we not get a top notch QB anymore?? What is it the players see or don't see that is preventing us from being a school known for having GREAT QB's?? :ermm:

I liked what I saw for the most part. His throws were right on but still needs some work on his throwing motion. He holds the football a little low and causes his throwing motion to make more of a circle instead of pulling the ball through. But these are things that can be worked on.
