Guys if things don't go our way today, I dont think all hope is lost. A variety of things could happen, including finding a gem in the upcoming high school season, or even Lamaison stepping up.

However, I thought that Nick Stephens was the best pure passer on our squad last year. Now, that's not saying much, but after his first game performance people were willing to crown him. Supposedly during the offseason he has become a monster in the weightroom, putting on 10-15 lbs of muscle and breaking all the UT strength records for QBs.

So don't panic, we're going to have to prove we can coach our guys up to attract "PTPers".

I agree, I think Stephens will be just fine. JC I do not know about. We shall see.

He's still coming to UT. Don't worry, this was an intended leak

You guys really need to relax about recruiting

I think we'll be fine. I have faith in our staff.
...would have loved to have Jesse here and the possible commmits he might have brought with him, but remember anything is possible on signing day in Feb.

He made his choice and hopefully it works out for him. I have faith that a QB will be found when all is said and done.

Hard to have faith when 4 QB prospects tell you, "No thanks." Looks like its JUCO-U for us for a while. I'm not down on the Vols. I just need to realize and accept that we're now a bottom 6 team in the SEC for the next 2-3 years... we need to face that reality.

Forget Brunetti. He's wrong for our system. He can't even see over our OLINE.

Oh well... start setting our sights on 2011 for a QB. It hurts to even ponder that right now.

Brunetti will decommit from WVU and pick UT. Unless Kiffin flat out doesnt want him. But the way I see it, Kiffin is in a slim pickings situation.

I agree with stephens. If he can step up that buy another year.

Once Scroggins commits to USC, don't be surprised to see Rettig wearing orange next fall.........

bryce brown's conference wasn't taped though. As much as i'd like to believe an intended leak... it just doesn't make as much sense to be wrong when the conference has already happened.

Who cares... JS is all talk on his myspace ("i do my own thing") and if he and his family honestly believe he can beat out Barkley, then he'll have some work to do in order to even pass his senior year of HS

Yep, what an idiot! No way he could ever beat out Barkley. Barkley has shown more college potential than Ryan Leaf and Heath Shuler showed for the pros combined. He is a four year starter lock and at least a 3 time Heisy winner.

Dont see why any recruit would like waiting at least 3 years to play ball but hey its his choice have fun taking clip board holding 111, 112, and 113.

I agree. I think we need to go after him hardcore now...brunnetti is perfect for WVU not us....rettig is good enough to get us some recruits and i have a feeling BC is going to have a crappy year....look for our staff to go after rettig pretty hard...more so than brunnetti

Your right, however an Injury to Barkley could happen. As we all know with QBs (Erik Ainge) sometimes you have to go with the 3rd option

Wow, ready to hand him the Heisman 3 times already?

Why is this kid an idiot for making the choice to go to SC? The biggest factor from what I can tell was his parents having access to his team, apparently that is very important to him. Why beat the kid up for it?

Because he has stated several times that he does his own thing and doesn't go with the flow just because thats what other people are doing.

When you live in SC and you decide to go to USC when they have 3 other QB's that are ahead of you now and its obvious they will pick up another one next year, then you are not really doing your own thing. Even if your own thing is having your parents watch your games - or in his case hold a clip board

Cause it makes me feel better.

Sarcasm gentlemen, heard of it? Seriously, I have no problem with his choice. If this kid was from Knoxville and picked USC to get play time, we would crucify him for life. My point was nobody knows how well Barkley will do, but many act like he is guaranteed for greatness, Just like Heath and Leaf were destined for NFL greatness. If Scroggins thinks he has a shot at the starting job, who can say he doesn't. He has the physical tools and obviously doesn't mind the competition, so good luck to him.
Seriously, we should be happy we were in the discussion with USC and Fla after last year's performance and a new coach( not to mention questionable O line.)

USC is a fine school with excellent tradition and a program which looks to be very healthy and exiting to play for. JS seems to be the type of young man which thoroughly evaluated the situation and felt this was the best choice for him. He may feel he needs time to acclimate to the college level of play and committing to Tennessee would have put him in the spot light playing against the thoughts competition in the county from day one. As good as he is with the line we have right now and no committed power on the OL for next year he has to know he was going to have a tremendous amount of pressure to perform. Sounds like he made the safe chose but not necessarily the best chose for his NFL carrier. I sure would have like to see him in Orange on Saturday afternoons. Good luck JS, I for one will enjoy following his development at USC.

Let's put this guys name out of our vocabulary and move on. With some coaching LaMaisson will be the quarterback we need for now and we'll get the pick of the crop next year..

Of course it is possible that all the committed quarterbacks for this year may decommit before signing day next February.
