Vols_Beat Bray had better numbers according to UT release, but Dooley made clear that Simms hasn't lost his lead.

Which QB is #17? He was in for 2 series that I saw. On one play from shotgun had the snap go over his head. He got to the ball scooped it up and showed some nice wheels out running all the D Line and a linebacker before getting run out of bounds.

Good to know we have a QB who can run out of bounds.

17 Tyler Page QB 6-1 190 Fr. Candler, N.C. (Asheville)

Hope this local N.C. kid sees some playing time.

I know I wasn't there, but the stats tell otherwise. I think it probably is only a matter of time. But there are A LOT of variables that can play into those stats that are not immediately clear. Will be interesting to watch play out.....just wish I could be there watching it play out.

Didn't Nick have better stats than Crompton in practices last year? Both QBs weren't great, but one was clearly better than the other. And I don't see how the stats say anything. Bray threw for more yards on two more completed passes? Against which personnel? In what situations? Only stat that should jump out at you is both QBs getting basically equal amount of time throwing. I wanna know who got sacked, how each QB did in the red zone, on 3rd down, etc etc. 9-21 isn't good though. We shall see.

Not to worry...these things are usually scripted to see what works against certian defenses and certain offenses. They are in no way a true testimant to what we are truely putting on the field scheme wise

:lolabove:

some say certian and some say certain, but I always say gonna happen, lol!! Thanks Coach!! :)

If you go watch Gerald Jones post scrimmage interview on the WBIR website there is a part where he talks about dropped passes. If that is the case, then we need to be criticizing the receivers, not Simms.

Propst with 5 tackles is standing out to me.....remember, some *****ed and moaned that we took this kid.....

I never complained about him and maybe he'll be good. I'll play devils advocate though for the sake of the people who weren't happy about getting him. Maybe they were throwing his way(two tight end set) and running at him the most. Someone was getting beat up on the 6 play, 80 yard drive and someone missed Poole on his 50 yard run.

I'm not saying Propst isn't or won't be good. I'm just saying that lots of tackles don't make you good. If I were a coach, I'd attack the weakest players on the field. That would equal more tackles for that player.

Well, if this is the case, at least he got 5 tackles.....I'm not saying he is the second coming of Al Wilson or Leonard Little, but at least he wasn't too busy talking about MTV and Two-A-Days to stop the rock.....

I'll play the other devil's advocate - pleased to meet you counselor...lol.

Poole's run was on the first play and Propst didn't start - couldn't have been him that missed the tackle. Also, if you attack the 'weakest' player and he winds up with lots and lots of tackles from his linebacker spot, he wasn't likely the weakest player. If you attack a weak LB, then the SS or FS winds up with a lot of tackles, not the LB.

Granted, though, tackle # alone doesn't mean much. But it's more likely to be a positive for a freshman LB (any LB, really) than a negative.

It's a minor point, but I'm starved to death for football news (Y'all know):

I wonder if Palardy and Lincoln use the same holder for FG's, since Palardy is LF, Lincoln is RF? Saw a pic of Darr holding, but don't remember which way he was holding. Seems like an unnecessary risk to ask a single holder to switch back and forth, especially if you wind up with both kicking (Lincoln short, Palardy long, for example).

Anybody seen a second picture of a holder or otherwise know?

I hate these things because I'm pumped for the O and depressed that the D allowed it.

The D is also learning a completely new scheme, it's hard to change from a base 4:3 to a 3:4 in a couple of weeks. If that is in fact what they are doing...
