Scrimmage stats 4/9

First off Bray looked great today, Montori did pick him off but it was off a tip ball, and just a great diving play by him.

Simms same issues as last year. Throwing off of his back foot and nothing on the ball. You can't float it across in the field into the flats.

Worley settled in but never looked smooth. He looks like he will be a good one in time, but if he plays this year it is a bad sign.

Poole is going to be the starter at running back as of now. He is getting better at planting the foot and getting up field, all of the backs looked better. Neal looks bigger and plants his foot and drives, but had issues picking up the blitz. He would have got Simms killed a few times if it had been live and it wasn't Simmis holding it to long. It was just missed pick ups on his part.

O-line Seems to be coming together very nice. They are big strong and working as a unit.

Tight Ends are few in numbers, but Rivera and Downs both looked good today. Downs number would have been better, but he got over thrown on some plays.

WR's They are going to be scary. They caught the ball very well today. route running looked sharp also.

The first team looked very sharp today. It looks like they are starting to pick it up. From what I saw today, I'd say 8 or 9 wins, but they will give a lot of teams fits all season.

Defense looked solid as well.

Johnson looked good at LB.Sapp made a lot of plays. Art done a good job in cover, but bray was just putting the ball in the perfect spot. Wilks picked off Simms and teleported for a pick 6. Anderson looks like the real deal at CB. He killed white lighting, but Worley hanged him out to dry. D line looked soild but hard to tell in this kind of scrimmage. They also didn't miss a lot of tackles.

BTW the point guard didn't look horrible at db. I didn't see him get any work at returning. One good thing was no dropped punts, and kick return looked good as well.

Nice post! Not sure I can find 9 wins this year, but thanks for the update

They either played it really really safe for a concussion, or that isn't all of it.

If we go undefeated in the 2012 regular season and SEC Champ game and make it to the title game and the world does end one week before the Title game that's just God's way of saying "yes, I really do hate you guys and the bad luck wasn't accidental. Die now."

Excellent post

Will the defense be the weak link for this team or will incoming freshman and Couch help the D?

At least we will go out as the reigning SEC Champions and will hold it forever.

I think the most interesting thing this spring is Neal pushing Poole for the playing time at RB, looks like Poole played well today. I think this is an area that needs to improve next year if this team wants to be competitive in the SEC.

Wait... what is a touchback?

It is told in Volunteer folklore of a time when kickers could actually put the ball into the endzone, forcing the opposing returner to assume a "kneeling" stance. After this, the ball was spotted at the 20-yard-line, giving the enemy much less desirable field position than most of us have become accustomed to.

To be fair, that was before they changed the kick-off yard line to match the NFL.

Hopefully if it's the case that it is important to read more into I want to read it to. Cause I would really love to see that kid start. One word SPEED Poole doesnt have it.

Poole has been breaking off big plays ever since he got to UT in practice and last year in games. Please... Just leave it alone. Poole is about 95% sure to start this fall. I like Neal too but the Poole hate is just stupid.

Yes, but the endzone is still in the same place, and we used to see kicks go to the back of it or through it. I don't think 3-5 yards deep is too much to ask, especially with athletes bigger and stronger than ever.

Of course, we are talking about kickers.
