Scrimmage Stats 4/10

I guess nobody on here remembers Big John against Florida in '01. He stood up for half that game.
Junking the defense for the '01 Florida game and running the the Prowler was one of the more ingenious things John Chavis ever did.

We were in Grossman's face all night. Seeing JH pace back and forth had to be a scary sight.

What happens when Reviez comes back fully healthy? Austin Johnson is playing really well at the middle linebacker spot in his absence. They always say you can't lose your position to injury, but this might be a case where it actually happens!

Montori is not really playing Mike when he stands up. He is still designated to penetrating the A gap. They said it is mainly so he can build momentum before the snap. The only thing that scares me, is that he will have to do some really good timing of the snap to make this work well. But the intimidation factor probably helps out alot. And the players always enjoy doing something different. This new style of defense could definetly appeal to some recruits!

Wasn't Matt Stafford a skinny frshman playing behind a shaky O-line, and he took a horrible beating that first year, but it worked out pretty well for him. Just sayin

No.

First, Stafford hasn't been skinny a day in his life... was called Pillsbury from the day he bounced off the hospital floor. Arrived on campus weighing 220, and got progressively fatter every year... terrible weight room ethic, if he even knew where the weight room was.

Second, he was awful as a freshman, even with his size. Only completed 53% of his passes; and most of the completions were to the guys with different colored jerseys than his own... 7 TD's and 13 INT's. That was good for a 109 QB rating; which, of course, is horrible.

Third, as bad as that was, he was still the #1 QB in the class of 2006; and I don't think any of the UT QB's are or were ranked anywhere near #1.

Stafford's probably not the best comparison. Bray probably has the goods; but he needs to put on at least 30 lbs. to avoid serious trauma and injury in the SEC. Simms hasn't looked great, and wasn't very highly regarded coming out of high school; but he's just more physically ready to play, and more experienced.

If Bray has a good work ethic over the summer, his weight should be a non-issue come fall (if it's even one now).

Good to see Poole with another solid performance.

Is Gerald Jones made of glass?

Austin Johnson making a statement.
