Not good with tweets, Peter Burns espn:

“That is one of the worst calls I've seen in the history of college football. Absolute garbage in the Music City Bowl”

Though, I guess in fairness, we consistently got f@#$ed by the same garbage "forward progress" call. "Forward progress" for Matt Corral after 1 millisecond of barely being touched by a defender. "Forward progress" after about 1 second for a running back who was still moving forward.

"Forward progress" should NEVER be called that quickly unless a player is driven backwards several yards and clearly can no longer advance. That's why the rule exists; so a player doesn't get injured as the defenders have obviously pushed the offensive player backwards. Neither of those plays even remotely qualifies. Corral was barely touched at all. And Small wasn't driven back enough (or for any considerable time period) to justify it.

They let their TE get pushed backwards for a full 2 seconds then break loose for a TD. Same official.

I agree. Such an incredible game will now be forgotten over one horrendous call. Everybody loses in this situation. I see it weekly in the NFL, RB gets hit at goal line, forward progress is stopped, but his teammates or second effort pushes him across. This is no different. Maybe if that happens at the 40 yard line I get it, but at the goal line with everybody fighting for every inch you have to let that play out. Inexcusable.
