Was talking to an NFL scout this weekend who has Tennessee as a region. He was telling me that in the NFL, they categorize programs as "A schools" "B schools" and "C schools"

An A school is a program that has potential first or second rounders that is a must-hit and worth investing a lot of time and planning a trip around. B school has possible late round guys or guys that are worth seeing a practice or at least a walk-through and getting a firm eval on. A C school is a school with limited draftable prospects that is often just a stop to watch film if time allows. practice/in-person eval may not even be a priority or worth the time.

For context, this team currently views MTSU as a "B school". It views Tennessee as a "C school"

what about Trey Smith? Jennings? Warrior?

Not counting Trey. This is an NFL scout - only focusing on guys that can possibly jump next year. I imagine Warrior and JJ will get longer looks as Seniors, as well as Trey as a 3-year guy. This is basically saying guys like Tuttle, KP, AJ, etc. aren't getting much interest. Not too surprising.

AJ?
I think JJ is gone after this year.

I bet over the last 10 years Alabama has by far put the most players in the NFL. Love to see the stat, but i bet it's pretty lopsided. It really is about the Jimmy's and the Joe's. Saban is a great coach, but he also has the best roster in college football year in and year out. The C grade is probably good for Tennessee, not pumping out the quality it once did, you see the drop off in wins. You got to have players, i don't care how good a coach you are.

One thing to consider is that this info isn’t as much of news as it is just echoing what we’ve all been saying. Does our team have the talent to be an A school? Yes. But from an NFL scout perspective, this talent has not been coached up to a degree where they are ready for the big leagues.

Then again, who is this guy scouting for? That matters. Is it a Browns scout???
Don't know who but it's not a very inclusive article. There are several scouts at UT on a regular basis. Not saying we have a ton of talent but this story isn't very telling either.

Run with the most extreme take, that's just how it works now.

Jennings, Warrior, and Tuttle are probably the only draftable upperclassmen on the roster

Irrelevant, just like recruiting rankings don’t always pan out... you still want the players. I’d rather have Bamas problem of the drafted guys not producing at the next level vs. our guys not being drafted because they suck in college.
