This afternoon Brent Hubbs said he didn't think any other UT coaches were talking to other schools right now.

Point was....Do the coaches that are leaving know more than we do, or are they leaving for better positions? After a 7-5 season...that worries me. After a 10-2 season..I could understand that.

No man...coaches leave all the time...it is happening everywhere....Florida, Bama, Miss state, so on and so forth....I think it is just we are so used to being let down and having coaches that no one else wanted....this happens....CLK is trying his best to keep these guys here...CMK too...but sometimes they want a DC in waiting...or asst. head coach....we got those already it seems...money will not be the issue. Bama has good coaches and they are on full blown probation! We just need to relax....:)

Merry Christmas everyone! :clapping:

CLK said he was going to surround himself with a GREAT staff last year.

I think we should believe him..... since the other schools seem to want them.

UT fans aren't used to watching assistant coaches leave every year because Fulmer didn't hire anybody good enough for anybody else to want. This happens when you hire good, ambitious coaches.

if they weren't leaving for raises and title upgrades, then you might have a point. If you hire good people, other organizations are going to try to hire them away.

exactly...We should be glad that we have coaches that are getting the job (recruiting) done and that other programs want to hire...we could always go back to PhatPhil and Krispy Kreme...remember, anyone other than CLK, MK, and EO can be replaced...GBO!

Fulmer should send Stoerner a $1000 check every Christmas. Never has one man's reputation depended so much on a freak screwup made by somebody else.

Some other people he should send checks to:

-The refs from the Syracuse game for a questionable pass interference call on 4th down on the eventual game-winning drive

-The kicker on Florida's '98 team for missing a chip shot FG in overtime

-David Leaverton for his TD-saving tackle of FSU All-American Peter Warrick on a punt return

send a check to texas aggies because if they wouldnt have beat kansas with their punter as qb it would have been 1.fsu vs. 2. kansas for thr nc.

Fulmer got lazy and he took his job for granted.the players was not getting coached, these kids were no better when they left Tn than they were when the came to Tn.Look at Fulmers record with Coach Cut and look at his record without Cut.
What ever happens with Kiffin,It was time for Fulmer to go,he was getting out coached in just about every game.

What kind of things would you suggest they might know?

Wilson went home to coach for a high profile program with a raise. Gran went home to coach for a high profile program with a raise and promotion. Both guys were recruited not only because of their record at UT but their career resumes.

Thompson has a good resume as well. He's a young, smart, promotable guy who may well want to work for a guy like Charlie Strong.

Could there be something rotten these guys are running from? Sure. Not very likely at this point though.

BTW, it seemed that more than one tree of internet rumor suggested that Gran didn't like the time and commitment required by CLK. That's going to happen too. Not everyone will be able to live with it.

CLK is what we have bought into as the future of UT! Asisstants are going to leave regardless. It has been this way for years, and it probably will not change anytime soon!

How does our record impact whether these positions are upgrades? We hired a good, albeit mercenary by virtue of ability, staff. They will be pilfered.

What do you not understand about the words "more money"/"promotion"? That is what happened with Gran and Wilson. End of story.

Why does everyone think Eddie Gran is going home? He's not from FL he's from Cali, played in Cali, he just recruits in FL.

Thompson isn't going to Louisville. They can't pay him enough money, his and Strong's contracts would bankrupt their football program. Attendance sucks at loserville.

If you spend most of your time recruiting in Florida, and spending time with your family is important to you (as is often said of Gran), and you get an opportunity to move your family 500 miles closer to where you're doing most of your work.....then maybe that's not "going home," technically, but it's the next best thing.

I know the wait for someone to actually want to hire your beloved Fulmer is taking a long time, but don't take it out on us with your negative, unsubstantiated crap.

It is starting to look like an awful lot of coaches are looking to abandon ship. That does not usually happen whe the ship is floating high. But of course it is all Phil's fault.

I agree he isn't going to Louisville. They could pay him enough if they wanted. They have Papa John's money backing the program. Word out of Louisville that Strong wants to hire Brian Jean Mary as the DC.

Yeah, 2 coaches leaving is "an awful lot." It's a foreign concept to the Foolmorons that we actually have coaches who are coveted by other schools now.
