I will say this. This coaching staff has proven they can recruit. They can evaluate. So I don't put too much stock in the recruiting sites. This coaching staff is very methodical and they haven't had many misses.

So I will trust them on this kid. Go Vols!

I'm all for UT and support this coaching staff 110%, just like I supported all the others. But this is a brand new staff, hard to say if they have misses yet.
Regardless, GO BIG ORANGE!!!

I just don't get statements like this. Honestly, what have they proven? What is your basis?

Still the same HC though, and I have a feeling that noone gets an offer before he signs off on it.

Did you miss that talented group of freshmen Dooley brought in for his first full recruiting class in 2011? Jackson and Richardson on the oline, Maggit and Johnson at LB, Lane and Young at RB, Coleman and Randolph at DB, Mo Couch on the Dline. We've already got great production from everyone I just named, in their first year on campus. The only exception there would be Richardson, and he is expected to be the best of the group.

Its nice to be in a place where we get a player like this and be able to redshirt and develop if we want too.

Thank you. Someone has paid attention to Dooley's recruiting classes. To be honest even though we haven't won a lot, I've been impressed with the production the kids you mentioned have made in their 1st and 2nd years.

You don't get it? Sounds like a personal problem. Do some research then and let me know what you think of the guys Dooley has brought it. I believe the guy earlier in the thread that responded to you answers your question.

Now on to more important things like how to feed yourself. If you don't get that I'm sure we can find someone to come chew your food for you.

Guys, anyone who wonders about no stars, 3 stars, ect with linemen need to realize something.

In high school often times footwork and handwork is not even worked on a ton. Its about power and explosion, which while they are important, the hands and feet are paramount in the college game.

The single best time to look at these items are in a camp and especially in a camp of this type.

If you look at the top linemen over the year that go to the NFL, its a pretty broad spectrum of their high school ratings.

With a kid that size, feet is the big concern. A lot of kids dont have the feet to be a tackle, and this kid is slotted at a guard already from the sounds of things.

You dont see many high schoolers do true verticle sets and you can see much more of that at camps ect.

Decent pick up, but is anyone concerned that Georgia, Bama, Florida, LSU, Auburn, South Carolina, Mizzou, Ole Miss and yes Vandy are ahead of us in recruiting according to Rivals?

You can't teach size and heart. He has both. He has now proven to the coaching staff in camp in person that he has enough talent to be a Vol and compete at the highest level of the SEC. Done.

Anybody that start worrying about stars and recruiting service rankings at this stage really needs to work on their use of time.

I love it. Big SEC sized kid who is pumped about playing for his State. I've always agreed with the thought that given our conference and our need to recruit talent out of state, we have to lock down ALL the great talent in Tennessee. When we are good, the Tennessee talent is here. When we are bad, the Tennessee talent is elsewhere. I hope Dooley can keep this ball rolling and pull Reeves-Maybin and the kid from Clarksville.

He is very close to a Bama offer as well...this guy earned his offer today in front of the staff.

Who has Dooley taken that he has seen in person at a camp that is lowly rated who hasn't been pretty damn good? I trust Pittman and Dooley's judgement.
