Scout Board:"Brady Ackerman says Leach is a Vol"

You have got to be kidding? Your man crush on Kiffin has clouded your judgment. Why do you want Kiffin so bad, especially when you say that Leach doesn't have a history of winning big games as a head coach?

I 2nd that. Kiffin is largely untested and the other subject of much man-crushing is Davis, who just got clubbed like a baby seal by a bad NCSt squad. I think Leach is clearly the best candidate on the table at this point and give UT the biggest upside.

I don't think Leach is the right fit for UT. Then again the TT fans could have said the same thing when Leach arrived there.

I would rather see some one like Kiffen or Kelly or Jim Grobe.

Uh yes...He is...A VERY serious candidate...You been living under a rock?

So very serious that "VERY" has to be in all caps? Damn, that's serious, and I mean SERIOUS.

Out of curiosity, how do you know that Hamilton's considering him so SERIOUSLY?

I could live with Kiffin, but I'm not so keen on Kelly. Jim Grobe would be a terrible hire IMO.

Spurrier Record at Duke

5-6
7-3-1
8-4

wow so impressive, that was when the only team in the ACC was FSU. Leach is putting up better records at Texas Tech

Leach record at Texas Tech.

7-6
7-5
9-5
8-5
8-4
9-3
8-5
9-4

So much more impressive, I agree.

Duke:

10 wins in the three years before Spurrier.

20 wins with Spurrier in three years.

Texas Tech:

19 wins in the three years before Leach.

23 wins with Leach in the first three years.

I have a feeling all the buzz is simply a creation to keep the part of our fan base that looks only at one season happy.

but you would rather has Muschamp.....LOLOLOL:lolabove:
I would rather have any of the possible canidates over Leach.

I like Muschamp, but would much rather have Kiffin based on his recruiting abilities and the staff that he would assemble. Where was all the Leach supporters at last year? TT has 1 good season and people are coming out of the woodworks.

I'm not even sure he would come if he was offered. If he was smart, he would realize a project that takes 9 years in the Big 12 will take longer in a conference that is defense first.

Please take Kelly over Leach. Leach has been very mediocre and it took him what? almost a decade to reach the top? and he may very well not even finish out on top after today.

Kelly isn't in my top 4 and I would even take Kiffin before him - but will take Kelly before Leach.

Funny thing is that is Leach and his boys lose tonight that you goobers will be here screaming "I told you so"...Even though most of the coaches you guys are supporting "with jobs of course" have more losses than Leach...Regardless if He comes here or not, If He wins at UT then all you naysayers will swear you were on his bandwagon at the beginning and if he loses then you'll be blaming all of us for all the support We were showing him...It's a double edged sword

Not really. If he loses today, I can just add another year he failed to win a conference title. That is really all I would need to say.

He's been there nearly a decade. His program is built to his liking already. If you're referring to Butch having more loses than him - leave Butch somewhere for a decade and see what happens.

Spurrier is never gonna win a conference title at South Carolina. He is a horrible coach.

I've looked at his record, and realized it is his first good year. The fact is, if he was a good enough coach for UT, Tech wouldn't be playing for his first division title today.

And when has Lane Kiffin ever done anything of note? Great recruiter as USC, but that isn't very difficult.

Hell, why not hire a successful OC then? Kiffin may have had a little head coaching experience, but no matter how one spins it, impressive is not a word that would describe his tenure with the Silver and Black.

He has a lot more to prove than Leach, and I'm not particularly wild about the pirate.

that's what I get for jumping in late. Sad but I could see some on here saying it

Not as good as he once was. You can't argue that.

No you're correct... I just think it's unfair to say because Leach hasn't won a conference title at TT that he's not a good coach. I don't think Stoops, Meyer, whoever... you name the coach would be winning titles there. Now if you want to argue that's because he can't recruit, I don't know, you may be right.

I don't think there is a place in the country where Meyer or Stoops couldn't win the conference after 8 years. Not many, at least.

It is easy to get caught up in the present as some have suggested regarding Leach; but to play Devil' s advocate, would Leach be as popular on this board if TT was having a typical TT season, lets say if they were 7-3 right now?

I'm kind of up in the air on Leach, but I'm not sure I would consider him a viable candidate so much if TT weren't having the season they are having this year.
