I was listening to Van Pelt earlier on ESPN and he was breaking down the job at UT in categories of A, B, C, or D and he gave the UT job an A+. He was talking about the stadium capacity, facilities, the tradition and the SEC and he said UT would attract big time coaches.

That's encouraging after so many have said it's not a premier location because of recruiting and challenge.

it will take a certain type of coach to want to jump into the SEC but we'll find that guy. It's at the very least the top one out there right now

van pelt is one of the few guys on ESPN who gets the bigger picture and doesn't blindly follow the flavor of the week like that network as a whole tends to do.

I'd say it is clearly the best job available or that will be available at the end of the year.

I agree, but hopefully it's sooner rather than laster.

UT job is fantastic---UT should settle for nothing less than a top tier coach, with proven experience as a head coach in a tough conference. Pay him $3 mil plus, and with the fans, facilities, location, money, tradition, etc., UT will get a great coach.

Ben Maller (Fox Sports Radio 3rd Shift) was gushing over how huge the Tennessee job was last night.

I would say B+......Only negative is less than stellar in state recruiting base.

How soon do you think we will know who they are looking at and who might get the nod?

I agree that our on state recruiting base is not great but when we do have good players we let them go e.g. patrick turner to usc and most likely marlon brown will not be a vol also we lost Graig Cooper partly because fulmer didnt even know his name and called him craig. Still we have excellent facilities, a huge fan base, and playing for a big time sec school with tv exposure should be enough to pull big time recruits. We have to get to a top tier coach and settle for nothing less.

Compared to the other jobs currently available (Clemson, Washington, Toledo and the others probably opening up Auburn, Syracuse), Tennessee, IMO, is the premier job. There is some debate that Clemson or Auburn could also be very attractive given the relative ease of the ACC as compared to the SEC for Clemson and the strong recruiting base for Auburn in Alabama (although matching what Saban is doing with the Tide recruiting wise would discourage anyone thinking they are going to get the top talent in that state). However, Tennessee has superior facilities, money, etc. that has been mentioned countless times compared to these schools.

My question is what if Penn St. is able to finish off this undefeated run this season and Joe Pa rides off into the sunset and that job becomse available? Or what if FSU wins the ACC and Bobby B decides to do the same and the school decides to pursue other options than Jimbo F? Would the best coach out there choose us over those two programs?

I think its important we find our guy before the bowl season is over so we are only competing with the other current jobless school landscape and no one can come and and steal our number one choice from us.

I think I've heard that PSU will hire someone from within once Paterno retires, whenever that is. I think maybe their d-coordinator has been mentioned. There hasn't been anything set in place like FSU and Fisher though.

This job is without a doubt an A+ job! We have just had a head coach for 16 yrs.

I agree our in state talent is not that fab but i mean look at Marlon Brown. We could use him! We missed out on Cobb (KY) Turner (USC), Hightower (AL) I mean we may not have the quantity but we have some quality!

A lot of people would love to play in front of 102,000+ especially when we are playing good.

ATTENTION SEC TEAMS---------

You better beat our a$$ now because we are coming back and not even takin names. Just shovin! SEC Title in 3yrs.!
