Scott Frost or Dan Mullen??

Mullen. He knows what it takes in the SEC. The comment "he can really coach QBs is really important for us. Plus, his lines went toe to toe with Bama last night.

While both coaches may be very good, neither is an Explosive hire, are they?

Mullen, with the caveat that I don't think Frost would stay very long. Nebraska will be his home sooner or later. Book it.

Both have pros and cons and both should be major upgrades.

Kind of like the proven commodity aspect of Mullen more. Less likely he would jump to another school like Frost could with Nebraska as well.

Would rather have Frost over a lot of guys including Kelly though. Kelly has too many personality quirks and some of the same unprofessional traits we've seen in Petrino too. Comes off as more of a West Coast guy too so he could jump quick.

Which of these two coaches would you not want the gators to have?

I don’t want the gators to get Mullen. He knows how to coach up quarterbacks.

Scott Frost...with a clause in his contract that if Nebraska comes a calling they will have to pay $10M to hire him away from Tennessee.

I think that Mullen has the resources at UT to eventually maintain above .500 SEC record. But I don't think that we can reasonably expect him to suddenly become a great coach. He really disappointed with poor coaching and game management last evening in the loss to Alabama.

I would definitely take Frost ahead of Mullen. He's riskier... he has more downside but he has tons more upside. And he'd probably be cheaper.

Yet you haven’t given any specific examples of mismanagement last night. The biggest failure by State last night was on 3rd and long where Bama drew a DPI penalty. Not Mullen’s fault that the corner didn’t turn his head around. Without that penalty, State gets the ball back.

While I’ve wasnt crazy about their last possession with the tie game, he called the same plays that worked all night. Bama finally adjusted. Where have we heard that before.

Last, people on here last night (specifically you) complained about the 3rd and long blitz. That was the right play call cause their line was getting to Hurts all night.

At the end of the day, Bama was a 14 point favorite and got taken down to the wire by a bunch of 2/3 star players.

Yet for some reason, you say that this is no better than what we have now at Tennessee. Didn’t realize to losing at the last second to Bama with a bunch of 2/3 Stars was the same as getting blownout by Mizzou against UT’s 4/5 Stars.

Frost is going to be a monster. He just has "it". The coaches he's played for or coached under is unprecedented. Monster. He will be the next Urban Meyer.

Mullen. Done wonders with what he’s had in Starkville, would have better resources at UT IMO. But Frost is 2nd on my list. Both are flight risks to other schools, however (FL and Neb.), respectively.

Mullen wil not be going to Florida while their current AD is there.

His proven track record is under .500 in the SEC. It's under .150 against ranked teams. If proven means that he has improved the team, Frost improved his team much more substantially and much faster.

Still clinging to that MSU and UT are equal programs narrative huh?

Based on what exactly?

His record in the SEC. His record vs ranked opponents.

I'm not saying he's a bad coach, but we've seen a sample of what Smart can do at UGA. And I expect Florida to go for a home run hire as well. We know they intend on trying to be the best in football. I'm not sure Mullen will be able to match up to that.

He wasted one timeout. I believe that he actually wasted two timeouts in the last couple of minutes.

You're one of very few people who are defending the blitz. I don't understand how you can definitely say that it was "the right play call" when it clearly didn't work. I don't care either way about that call. He just fizzled at the end. MSU fans were really frustrated over it. I know their pain. That's a totally Butch way to lose.

So you think Smart’s had same circumstances and setup as Mullen at MSU?

People need to take a closer look at Nebraska before saying that Frost is going to jump there after a year as a reason not to hire him.

Mike Riley was a head scratching hire from the start, and a bad fit for Nebraska's culture. They are 4-6 this season and just got stomped by Minnesota. Finally, they just fired their AD and hired a new one, so he is not the guy who hired Riley.

The bottom line is that Nebraska is likely to be coach-shopping this year, not next or 2-3 years from now. If we hire him, it will likely be after he has considered and rejected an offer from Nebraska. I wouldn't consider that a reason to not hire him, and I like him a slight bit over Mullen, but would be very happy with either.

I've have to take Mullen. He's can develop QB's and is familiar with what it takes to win in this league.. Experience trumps youth in this case IMO. You'd have to think Nebraska would be the favorite to land Frost. Who knows though. Would take either. Be a instant upgrade.

I have heard 3 different "football" people say that Frost was displeased by what happened with the last NB coach......and what is happening to the current coach. Two of them also said they think he will not coach at Neb (no time soon) because he is such a hero there.

But really no one knows except for him.....and maybe his family.

Frost, but it's a close call.

Mullen is underrated precisely because many knuckleheads can't fathom that idea that Mississippi State is at a huge disadvantage recruiting against other SEC programs.

Blitz was totally the right call. At the end of the day, talent won on that go ahead drive for Bama. Bama has not stopped their blitz attacks all night. Leave it to Bama to stop it the only time it mattered.

At the end of the day, getting Mullen guarantees Grantham comes with him. That’s a double win right there in itself as we would have guaranteed player development on both sides of the ball. Something we haven’t had in 5 years.
