Was he any worse?

Hell yeah! I don’t see how we can even judge Rock’s work of less than a year, but Szerszen was running workouts well before Lawson was officially let go...results bordered on disastrous.

But Rock was going to make such a huge difference!

Rome wasn't made in a day. 8 months isn't going to change a lot of people dramatically. The guy was in the NFL for about 20 yrs so he must know something.

I don't think the atmosphere around the program was for guys to really bust their ass to get bigger and stronger.

If we could get Cochran I am sure the boosters would have no problem throwing in a few extra bucks to pay him.

Villoria...maybe Hocke at A&M...or the dude at FAU w/ Kiffin, can't recall his name...these are all hypothetical that I've heard, which means squat really.

Whoever it is, Fulmer will pay up for the best he can get and that Pruitt wants...Fulmer's always talked about the best and most important coach hire he had was S&C Coach Stuckey.

No secret, major hire...they spend the most coaching time with the kids year around. Major influencer and motivator.

Wilson Love. Seems a little out there. Ok with me, but does Pruitt appreciate free spirits?

I thought THIS was the S&C "Splash Hire"...

We could change our nickname to the “Silly Savages.”

Personally I think Pruitt will make a run at him. Don't much think we'll actually get him, but as someone mentioned earlier the lack of state income tax in TN would be an instant raise at the same pay.

I love the idea of us forcing Bama to pay him more, if we don't get him. Make them spend the money!

FYI Jeremy has a terrific backup option in his pocket for when/if Cochran says no: Henley at UAB.

Would definitely be an upgraded Lyle.

Other than leaving the state of Alabama why would he want to leave?

Guys Like Cochran usually need a challenge. I met him multiple times while I was going to school at Bama, and had a couple friends intern with him and they were kinda shocked he didn't leave with Kirby. However, I am in no way stating he is leaving, just I could see it happening if the environment was right and of course the money.

Far cry from Dooley's last year when they show before and after photos of the team as they trained for the MR. Knoxville contest.

Perhaps draw a full pension from the state of Ala. and also draw a full salary from state of Tenn which would not affect his Bama pension.

We have one of the best training facilities in the country. S@C is the single most important part of getting a football team ready to compete at the highest level. We have to be willing to get and pay that person what it takes to get them. That money is not astronomical it what UT brings in. If UT wants to compete it can, I have to believe our facilities and tradition can attract the top candidates for the job. It's our number 1 problem, all the take about the weight training facilities and we haven't gotten out of it what we are supposed too YET! GBO!

Do not include Rock in your assertions. He never had time to implement his program.

You should change your name to Big Orange Troll.

I’m more than comfortable saying you know not the first thing about a workout and diet regimen. Being as I have actively pursued anaerobic exercise for damn near two decades, I can validate that results can and should be seen within an 8 month window, if only marginally. If you watched this team, regression was blindingly apparent.

John Brice from Gridironnow.com (formally with VQ) was on Basillio's show talking about Pruitt's coaching hires, specifically the 2 vacant positions.

He didn't mention Cochran specifically but he said Pruitt was going after the best in the country and didn't want to mention his name as to not rile anyone up.

I assume he's talking about Cochran, right?

Do we have a legit chance at landing the guy or does anyone really know. My guess Pruitt is going to go after him and Cochran will just have to make the call and no one really knows except him.

I did some research last year before Rock came in. I do believe that this Cochran guy was the highest paid S&C coach in college football at the time. I know Fulmer would like to see another John Stuckey type. Ain't his team, of course....but he could find the $$ for the right guy.

S&C coach is on par with your coordinators as far as importance.

I don't think Cochran leaves Saban but it would be the best hire Pruitt has made if he did.
