John Brice from Gridironnow.com (formally with VQ) was on Basillio's show talking about Pruitt's coaching hires, specifically the 2 vacant positions.

He didn't mention Cochran specifically but he said Pruitt was going after the best in the country and didn't want to mention his name as to not rile anyone up.

I assume he's talking about Cochran, right?

Do we have a legit chance at landing the guy or does anyone really know. My guess Pruitt is going to go after him and Cochran will just have to make the call and no one really knows except him.

Anyone would be an upgrade over the last few.

Personally, if I had a choice to work under Pruitt or Saban for = or better money, the choice would be easy.

If it is him, and I sure hope it is, then it would make sense to not announce until after the championship game.

I can't really see another scenario where they would want to keep the hire a secret.

Per arguably Fulmer's best friend, retired coach Doug Mathews... Pruitt's gonna likely hire 2 high school coaches, one's probably gonna be from Middle Tennessee. Don't recall if Mathews inferred that as his opinion, or a fact.

Not sure if an S&C trainer falls officially within the 2 vacancies? I'd certainly call Cochran at a minimum.

I'll eat my shorts if we hire 'bama's S&C coach away from them.

Ain't happening.

I wouldn’t go that far. He’s very good friends with Pruitt. He also seriously considered leaving with Kirby two years ago. Word is he wanted to wait until he was fully vested in the Alabama state pension system, which happened this year.

Cochran would be an extreme long shot but you never know.

Other than leaving the state of Alabama why would he want to leave?
