I think the Good-Oil might have leaked into your brain. Who said anything about firing Barnes? The winning we've done under Barnes has been fun and no doubt has been our greatest period in program history. That being said, it ain't quite enough. What matters most in college basketball is how you do in the tournament. Final Fours or better are what really matters. Barnes and his system can't quite seem to get us there. Therefore, when he retires, by his own choosing, we need to make the best possible choice that can take us beyond where he has taken us. A gamble hire on an "up and coming" mid-major coach, would be short-sighted and incredibly stupid.

Ole Miss scored 29 points in the last 10:24 on 16 possessions (1.81 points per possession). Tennessee made 3 defensive stops in those 16 possessions. Offense was not Tennessee's problem last night.

Yeah, I feel you. The points in the paint were very one sided.

Especially in the 2nd half. Ole Mess didn't hardly make a shot outside the paint.

That’s just Rick Barnes basketball. Every team he’s ever had struggles with this.

Unfortunately, this has been a staple of Barnes teams. It wasn't as noticeable last year because of DK, but prior years it definitely was an issue. We just don't have considering shooters. I love ZZ, but when he goes cold He's non-existent outside of FT's. Take last night, 2-9 from the field and 1-6 from 3. He had a 3 game span against Auburn, Miss St and KY, he was 12-41 from the field 29% and was 2-20 from three 10%.We typically lose when ZZ has games like last night. Same with Chaz, when he goes cold it's ugly.

Kinda been this way all year. At this point this is just who we are, but we can’t and won’t win games allowing 78 points

I know Brakefield went nuts and that happens. I dont remember one guy just beating us to the rim repeatedly like that all year. He didnt score the 1st half, then couldnt miss. But if we couldve just scored on 2 of those 15 empty possessions when we had the lead

This reoccurring problem is why we won't win a natty. Sweet 16's and an occasional Elite 8 are great, but sure would like to get past that.

And that seems to be our absolute ceiling, unfortunately.

Cang argue with that. Lanier cant only take 3 shots in a half ever!!

I wish they would run more plays with Lanier at the elbow. He is automatic from there. Maybe they do and it doesn’t work out for him to take the shot.

Insightful! Does anyone know what the average amount of time left on the shot clock is before we shoot? Too often, it seems to me, we wait until real deep into the clock and then have to hoist up a shot without a good look. With Milicic and Mashack often passing up open shots, it puts the offense at a disadvantage.

I could have swore that Ole Miss had a 10-0 run in the second half. It may have been a potential one, tho. Could be that 8-1 run you have listed, but I thought it was a little later than that.

I just remember during said run screaming at the T.V for Rick to call a time out before they took the lead back from us.
