Scoop on Fulmer from inside UT athletics!

Why are people so obsessed with this recruiting class. I would rather Fulmer not make any decisions at all than hold onto the class.

Agreed, in the grand scheme of things, one recruiting class can cause a lot less damage that Phil having input on the team for the foreseeable future.

because we have 2 of the best RBs in the country coming here at the moment. and considering how poor we run the ball, that would be VERY VERY NICE

The problem isn't the running backs. No one could run effectively behind our line.

It doesn't matter what players we bring, it will be the same product. Saban and Meyers will still be beating our heads in. If Fulmer is left with any say in how things are ran, we might as well keep him as HC and resign ourselves to horrible football.

Yeah cause you could drive a truck through the holes our oline created tonight...we obviously don't have very good running backs...

That is what I have heard and it is from a reliable source. The story itself sounds realistic and is the best thing for phil to do although he will still have a say for a long tie.

If Fulmer becomes the Assistant AD I'll be very upsetm. who the hell would want to be our next coach with him meddling in everything?

Hammy would be an IDIOT to give Fulmer a position within 100 miles of the UT football program. He's proven time and again that he's a blockhead--he doesn't know how to make smart decisions, so I do not want him exerting one IOTA of influence on the next coach and staff, whenever they get to Ktown, which can't be soon enough. I feel sorry for Chavis--he CAN coach.

I think Hambone's gonna give him a figurehead position. He'll make a fraction of the money (like he needs it) and he'll still be associated with the program. No hard feelings. 'Cause that's what BFFs do.

Not sure those 35 assistant ADs on the Hill do anything at all. Fulmer could definitely go around the state promoting the program or something like that, I doubt he'd have his hand in hiring and stuff.

A lot of people doubted he would have his hand in Clawson's offense and you see how that has turned out. I hope you are right though.

Yeah, but he won't be on the top of the totem pole anymore and he's currently paid to have his hand in situations.

I'm not sure how it works at UTK, but I am intimitely familiar with the situation at BYU. Each of the associate ADs have an area of specialty, one over Cougar Club (Boosters), one for compliance, one for marketing, etc. I imagine Phil would be qualified for compliance (given his dealings with Bama) but would likely enjoy the kickbacks from marketing (part lame Krispy Kreme joke, partly the truth.)

I'm just skeptical. A guy that has a history of meddling will always be a meddler. I hope, if this rumor is true, that he is kept far away from any real power.

I've heard for years that our assistant ADs do pretty much nothing. There are definitely others on this site that would have more insight to that, but I've always heard that.

I talked to a guy who we tailgate with every game... He knows mike hamilton personnally, and said that win or lose tonight Fulmer is stepping down and announcing it on Monday. In return, Fulmer will be given the assistant athletic director role until he wishes to retire instead of the buyout.

Oh Lord I can't wait until Monday now. Let us all pray

When a defensive coordinator lines his corners up 5 yards into the endzone when the opponent is on the 1 yard line, there is no need in looking any further into whether he can coach or not. I'm sorry armchair, but Chavis's stubborness and inability to make changes and stop a team on 3rd and 40 yds to go has been one of the main problems for this team. He has to go just like the rest of the coaching staff.

If Fulmer goes , everyone will be out with him in most cases. Especially if we hire an actual competent coach. I don't think Saban kept many of the Shula hires did he?!

When you get a new head coach, you get an entire new coaching staff. You clean the slate, and move on.

This team needs something to rally on. If status quo stays the same, this team will implode like Auburn is now doing. Something about Fulmer will come out early in the week, and if for no other purpose, it will be for the team to rally around Fulmer. Whether it is to give him their all for his final season, ala Lloyd Carr, or for him to keep his job.

I think Stan Drayton has a chance to stay on the new staff based on his connections with Florida recruiting. I still would not put it at more than 10% if Fulmer goes.

We've had LOTS of running backs come through this program since the year 2000 that have supposed to have been amongst the best RB's in the nation. It hasn't gotten us squat.
