Science Hills Shannon Hale commits to...

hmmm, Pearl was on science hill's campus a few weeks ago. Hale is only a sophomore, so plenty of time to change his mind.

Grant is a solid coach and recruiter, but I'm still surprised that an East Tennessee kid pulled the trigger so early for Bama.

Lots of reasons could be behind it. He might actually be a solid commit for Bama but it could also be a reactionary response to intense pressure on a 16 yr old kid. Basically, he might have told him he was committed just to keep from being harassed for awhile. I have no knowledge of this but its very possible.

I have a friend that plays on his AAU team and he says he loves Pearl. So i find this very weird.

Looks like one of the new guys on the block did a good job of convincing a kid Bruce Pearl won't be UT's coach in '12-'13.

He might have some explaining to do two years from now if Pearl is still coach as signing day approaches, then.

Wow, THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I thought UNC was recruiting this kid, or he had a serious interest of attending UNC, but they didn't offer a scholarship yet? This does not make sense.

Underrating Grant as a recruiter is a bad idea.

This. Though I'm surprised that Hale chose the Tide so early, I was amused at people scoffing at the hiring of Grant. He will be a formidable force at Bama and, likely, head to greener pastures within 5 years after he shows his worth in this conference.

The boy is only 15 or 16 years old, he has plenty of time to change his commitment. This does shock me though. His daddy is crazy though, he stays mad at the coaching staff because they ain't using him right and this and that. He was a headcase when he went to Vance (TN High's middle school) and then he transferred to the Hill and still can be. But he's a very very talented kid from the shoulders down just needs to straighten up at the top.

I'm pretty shocked by this. I know he loves Pearl and last I heard, he was waiting to see if UNC was going to offer him(I heard they told him they were going to continue to evaluate him and wanted to continue contact). According to people who know him, he said UT and UNC were the two schools he wast most interested in. I know Louisville was also very interested and he took a trip there last month. Alabama? WHAT? Confused to say the least.

No one can really take this too serious. Basketball is starting to turn into football where kids change committments daily. Example is Cedrick McAfee from Memphis, who committed to FIU and later the next day de-committs and then committs to Auburn. I am an AAU coach and its starting to get quite ridiculous.
