Well Brent could have possibly borught to us what Tee Martin did, a national championship.I love Peyton with all my heart but all the 300, 400, and 500 yards passing in games at UT, we still didn't win a championship with him. Peyton is my guy, but it took Tee Martin ( a mobile QB)and having his legs as a threat to put us over the hump, The Syracuse game, it was the season opener, Tee made some crucial first downs with his legs that Peyton couldn't have made. In the win over Florida that year, he made some big runs that game. We need a mobile QB unless we have a flawless Offenisve Line.

Just being mobile doesn't make Brent a Tee Martin. He stayed in trouble. His maturity level was a much bigger problem than his athletic ability.

Leonard Little, Dominique Stevenson, Jamal Lewis , these guys got into a few things at UT but who cried? Man they are young and foolish and going to make mistakes. Should they be punished their entire career?

What did Leonard do while he was at UT?

Well it is safe to talk about now, Well what Leonard didn't get in trouble for is what he has built a reputation for. Leonard had two or three drunk driving incidents. One included running into a parked car in Knoxvile, the other included running a red light and failing the sobriety test, but you never heard about this , right! Don't feel bad because it was hush hush! Let's keep it among us here !

I don't think Schaefer is going to be punished his entire career. He is getting his second chance at Ole Miss. There are also plenty of other names of very talented kids we could list who were kicked off the team.

You are right like James Banks, who was a thorn. Banks repeatedly got into trouble over and over again. Now Banks was going to be a major disgrace to the team like Lawrence Phillips was to Nebraska and The St. Louis Rams

His second chance should have been in the orange and white. Ole Miss got a real steal. Now I hope Crompton is all that you guys say he is because Ainge confidence is shot right now.

Trust me my friend, there is numerous of events that go on that you wil never ever hear about. T. Henry was cleared of an attempted r _ _ e charge in 99. However it happens all over college.

Sure they do . . . but none of this changes the fact that Brent Schaeffer basically quit on UT when it was apparent that he wasn't going to be guaranteed the QB job. Now you can argue whether or not he should have been given the job, and about the fact that he is well within his rights to leave a school . . . but at some point after a kid has transferred among 2 or 3 high schools and 3 colleges you've got to wonder about his commitment to anything other than himself.

Well If we are to go there about players commitments, then as far as I am concerned ,no player is committed to any school. I have partied with Donte Stallworth several of times when he stops by Memphis to party at The Premier night club and now he doesn't even acknowledge UT at all. It was a game this year and you know how they have NFL players to state their college, well Donte named his high school instead of UT, and I was like what's up with that. The players are different today than years past. its all about giving a good showing to get the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in The NFL.

We can all wish BS was still here. Fact is he made some mistakes. Some guys make them and they are forgiven or given a free pass. BS might have just made the wrong people mad. Regardless he's at Oxford and we have moved on. We have capable talent here. We have a capable mentor for that talent. All we can do is hope for the best with that. And we hope that the latent Schaeffers we have now will remain hidden or have that immaturity beaten out of them...pun intended of course. He wasn't the first and surely won't be the last.

I believe that a mobile QB is not the only difference between the teams under Martin and the teams under Manning. So, to say that a mobile QB is the difference that brought home the National Championship is possible, but not by any means defenitive.

Tee was a leader and a warrior. Brent NEVER showed that. Mobility and being an athelet does not make one a leader. Character does. Tee had it.

Well, I'm personally happy for him. He said that he was coming back to the SEC because he likes the competition. I've seen some video footage of him at that Div. II college and he has come a long way. He actually looks like a QB now! Very poised and rushes only when he has to. As far as that misdameanor assault charge, many UT players did the same or worse and were not asked to leave the team. I think he knew that as long as #10 was in Orange Nation, he was not going to play QB. So lets stop the bashing and wish him the best. I hope our own QB situation will have a positive outcome. :cross:

Brent was also a true freshman (the first true freshman to start an SEC opener in like 60 years). Tee didn't start until he was a junior that got to observe a great college QB's final years. To emphasize that Shaeffer was "NEVER" a leader is a little misleading, considering he was only here for one season, and was injured for a good bit of it. Tee might have been a good leader had he started as a freshman, but we'll never know. I'm sure having the time to get to know the guys and earn their respect in practice helped him in his leadership role as starting QB. Also, I thought he showed some pretty good leadership in sparking the comeback against South Carolina. We were down 8-0 and came back to beat them handily after Brent got our offense rolling. After a few more games, Brent might have matured into a worthy leader, but again, we'll never know. Either way you feel, I think it would be a little premature to make any definte judgements about him this early in his career. Wait and see what he does with Ole Miss.
