Scares me! Team's unusual arrangements

Sounds very logical to me. If you have ever traveled that interstate it's 3 lane and should take around 1.5 hrs max by bus. Stay in better accommodations in Cincy, practice in a pro stadium, get addressed by their coach and stay out of all the craziness in Lexington right now. You are blowing this way out of proportion.

This 100%^^^^^^^

All of these kids in high school once got to playoffs had long bus rides to games. They obviously handled it ok. And as a side note Marvin Lewis is well respected. Seems like a good guy so sounds like a bonus.

I'm waiting for Butch to say, "80% of our team have never been on a bus ride longer than an hour."

OP, this isn't that big of a deal.

When did the league move this game to October? I want to say it was about a year ago. I wouldn't be surprised if the Breeders Cup had already sold out a lot of that stuff.

With Butch's Cinncy connections I'm sure they were more than happy to take advantage of using the Bengals facilities and use it as a recruiting tool anyway.

They really should be able to airlift Neyland Stadium around the country and drop it on top of whatever stadium they are playing in. And they should also have the players' moms travel with them since airplanes and bus rides are so scary.

So we are taking a four hour bus drive North going past Lexington by over an hour and then returning there the next day. May not be a big deal to some, but in my mind this is horrible planning on someones part. I hope this is not true.

Because of the world's largest family reunion in Lexington, the Breeder's Cup, all of the hotels are booked.

Therefore the team is staying in Cincinnati on Friday night. An hour and half away from Lexington. They are practicing where the Bengels play on Friday. Marvin Lewis to address the team. Saturday they will make the 2 hour bus ride from down to Lexington.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THEY ARE FLYING INTO CINCINNATI OR BUSSING ALL THE WAY TO CINCINNATI AND BACK?

I hate that this is happening actually. That's a lot of chaotic running around and way off of their normal road schedule.

Settle down Shirley...you are going to throw your cycle off.

EXTREMELY poor planning on either our part or UKAD! You'd think they would have a hotel booked long-term for all visiting teams & who is the genius that planned a horse race on the same weekend as a home football game. Good going city of Laxitive!

I agree. How the hell does a major division 1 football team not get a hotel reservation well in advance?

Like last year?

No chance this wasn't done by design. Many coaches like to get their teams away from the distractions of the college town on game weekend and add the breeders cup Lexington would be a huge distraction. This clearly is our choice IMO

Okay, the mouth breathing that instigated the OP is kind of amusing, but I really appreciate it for giving us a thread with the title Scares me! during the week of Halloween, it's a really nice touch regardless of what's inside. Thanks for that, BamaHater! :good!:

Personally, I think they ought to ride the horses into town, screw the planes and busses. Proverbial kill 2 birds with 1 stone...

As a former equipment manager for the Vols, I can tell you that this is pretty standard. We almost always stayed in hotels an hour or so away from the gameday stadium. I would rather the players take an hour bus ride to the stadium than stay in a hotel packed with UK fans.

Good Frigging Lord!!! some people would complain about the taxes if they won the Powerball!! Do you think the team flies into Nashville when we play Vandy? Should we take a Jet to Bristol for the VT game next fall? Some people's glasses are alway half empty...and then it appears some people on this board don't even have a glass!

What a society of whiners we live in....

But was it scary?

I heard that in order to save money the Athletic department will no longer charter a 757 and instead make the team fly in a DC-3 to all away games.

IF a 2 hour bus ride throws these 18 - 20-something year olds off their game...we've got bigger problems than a stay in Cincy.

GBO!
