SCar fans first time in Neyland

Great write-up. I am always polite to opposing fans when they visit. My buddy and I typically ride the trolley to the game from Market Square, last year for the Florida game there was an older couple who were gator fans riding with us. It was their first trip to Neyland and had no clue where to go or what to do, we offered to walk with them from the trolley to their gate at the stadium, even then an obnoxious younger Vol fan walked past the older gentleman and leaned in to hit him with his shoulder. I apologized to the older gator fan and my buddy yelled some colorful metaphors at the retreating jackass. There is never a need to be an ass to visiting fans and there is never a reason for visiting fans to be disrespectful. Glad this Gamecock fan had a good time and enjoyed the pageantry, Neyland is a sacred special place and there is no pregame that is equivalent to the Pride of the Southland Band leading up to the opening of the Power T.

I have always seen opposing fanbase folks treated respectfully...at least in my group.
I have enjoyed many great conversations over the years and hearing their perspective on things is sometimes refreshing.
Yea I will never understand the hostility towards other fan bases coming to Neyland. I have seen UF fans(with kids) cussed like dogs before the game even started without any good reason, well other than they are UF fans :) Its different if they are acting like jackasses in the stands but not outside the stadium before the game even starts.

Cool read

I can tell you right now, I have never been in a stadium like that. I have watched games in Williams-Brice, I have been to Clemson for a top-five showdown, I watched a top-ten matchup in Tuscaloosa, I have been to Penn State… I’ll repeat, I have never been in a stadium like that. At one point, I looked at my brother and said, “don’t do anything stupid, because we may not get out of here alive.” Those Vol fans were crazed.

Thanks for sharing and he's right, most people from VA can't drive for ish!
Of my driving through Va. several times (90-04) I think they have been "driver conditioned" by their highway patrol to the point that is the only way they know how to drive. Not to mention their road system. Think it's bad on the "big roads" then don't get on any of the lesser paths. We think some of our back roads to small towns (hill or river bottom) are bad, well to see "bad", go to Va. If the armies (both north and south) had to use the road system in place now, they would still be trying to get from one battle to the next, or just have given up and gone home!

I'm always thankful when I hear opposing fans were treated well.

One of my favorite parts of game day is the band playing the other team's fight song. We sit directly across from them, and I love it when they clap and cheer and yell with our band.

I enjoyed it but said all year USC wasn’t that good. It wasn’t our Super Bowl but was a must win after GSU and BYU. AT half time, told my son we were the better team and would whip their tail in the second half and we did. USC best Georgia because of a plus 4 turnover ratio. They are 3-5 now just like us. We are a better team with better players and would’ve beat Georgia if we had plus four turnovers. Great win but not our Super Bowl. That would’ve been the week before.

Absolutely !!!! I live close to Cumberland gap which borders Virginia . And the highway patrol is like the Hitler's Germans ss troops . If your windows are tinted you will strip it off the car on the road or get your Windows smashed I kid you not . Anything over 5 MPH and your going to get a ticket it's a guaranteed .

As a member of the Pride, I always enjoyed it, particularly when they had a great fight song. Step to the Rear (USC) and Arkansas Fight were probably my two favorites. We always joked that it was nice of us to let their fans finally hear their own fight song played well.
