Scale 1-10 how important is the Vanderbilt game and why?

In today's world of bloodthirsty fans and boosters at big universities, every game is a 10.

And Why? Because of our egos. Sports is all about the need of being a part of a winning team or program

They don't call it "Hatred in the Hills" for nothing . . .

Has anyone actually ever heard this rivalry called that?

WGAF? No matter how much fertilizer they want to spread on hyping this supposed rivalry, it's not going to grow. Only thing you got right? It is nothing.

Why not just make 10 the loudest?

A loss would be like a loss to Georgia State. Some idiotic fans would hold it against coach for years Unless we win a Natty in the next couple years.

10...no hesitation, no question.
Yup...it's the Next game and they are all important. That said...Coach Heupel has achieved more this season than anyone had reason to expect he would. Staying positive...I'm not going to comment on the possible effect of a loss in this last game. What I am going to say is that given the season we've had so far...a BIG WIN over the Commodores will be a perfect cap on this year. A great Bowl game win will be icing on a very tasty cake.
GBO..!!!

Years ago Vanderbilt was a given. It didn’t matter if we had won 10-15 in a row still you don’t lose to them. Not the in state rival. Important game . I’ll give it an 8 on the scale 1-10.

SIGH!!!! All our games are scale 10, we should want to beat everybody, every week, every game, every year.

The Spring game in April Is way more important.
No offense, or maybe definitely offense, but you gotta be crazy.
If UT ever loses to Vanderbilt, it is a huge detriment to the program. That means it’s definitely important. Games that you are expected to win are a 10. It would be a huge lift to beat Bama, but it’s not a 10 in the grand scheme of a program, it’s not detrimental to lose to them. Yes, nobody (you) gets excited to beat Vandy, but a loss would cause some to burn sh!+.
The OP said importance.......not popular.

From a point spread perspective this would actually be a bigger upset than Georgia State was back in 2019. As others have said, this is simply a game that losing isn't a option. It would instantly erase all the positive to come out of this season.

Pretty much a 10 from the perception of where this program is heading. It is Vandy also. The snobs on West End need a good azz whipping.

Anyone that says this isn’t a 10 has to believe that the UK game was about a 3 on the scale then.......

In the sense that only one result is acceptable in this game, it’s a 10.

Totally disagree from a recruiting standpoint. Such a statement is like saying the Alabama and Georgia losses were not that important. Just because Georgia and Bama were ranked 1 & 2, didn’t make the loss less meaningful, recruits watch everything.
I think you missed his sarcasm, he should have used blue font.

10! Want a 77-0 beat down for having the arrogance to outscore us when we were understaffed; on and off the field. The "old whipping you'll never forget" type.

This year it’s a 10 ! UT losing this game is a MAJOR blow to a good season. I think it depends on the year and how each team is playing. If Vandy is 7-3 and UT is 6-4, then maybe a 7 because you always want to win that game regardless. But the impact is not the same.
