Muschamp said Tuesday that Dowdle has a sprained right knee. Although, he moved around at practice, Muschamp was unsure that Dowdle would be healthy enough when the Gamecocks (3-4, 2-3 Southeastern Conference) travel to play the Vols (2-5, 1-3).

He played one play last week. The 2nd string, Tavien Feaster, ended up rushing 25 times for 177 yards. The two of them actually have basically split the carries for the season. After Rico went down, Mon Denson came in and played the #2 back and ended up with 12 carries for 58 yards.

This is a great example of a "mature" program vs one that's in a state of being rebuilt. Over the course of an SEC season, depth is crucial to success. USC has it. We don't. As we get into the latter part of our schedule, that lack of depth will begin to show. Sadly, there's just no quick fix. Need a couple more really solid classes to really compete over a long, tough football season.

I think Feaster, the Clemson transfer RB, is just as good. He had 175 yards on 25 carries against UF this past weekend. S. Carolina doesn't appear to be weakened by the loss of both their season starting QB and RB.

S. Carolina at 3-4 has a tough schedule to close out their season. Needing 3 more wins to become bowl eligible will not be easy. For them TN is as much of a must win as it is for the Vols. This should be a hard fought SEC East game.

S. Carolina games remaining:
@tennessee
Vandy
App St.
@A&M
Clemson

So basically two really beat up SEC teams? Sounds about right.

They are on their 3rd string QB also.

Good. We need a few breaks. I hope the referees got a butt chewing for that disgraceful performance last Saturday night and they come out motivated to call a lot better and fair game.

is there something going on at App State you want to share with the class that makes them a tossup? Yes they are 6-0 but have you seen their schedule? Their 6 wins are against North Carolina and a bunch of guys SEC teams schedule for homecoming week. They will probably be 8-0 when they play USC but their next two opponents are South Alabama (1-5) and Georgia Southern (3-3). In fact USCe is the only good team they play all year. The next toughest Opponent on their whole schedule is Georgia state.

No way a team that's projected to beat Vandy and A&M is a tossup vs App State. Yes they are ranked 21 but that's just a math error that happens this time of year when teams in weak conferences haven't played their tough OOC game yet. Actually now that I look at it isn't that in fact USCe's homecoming game?

Feaster is good, but he'll be our main focus like Kylin Hill was. Our secondary has really started playing good football. We held by far the best wide reciever core in the nation to 223 yards passing. Ryan Hilinski isn't great/ is injured right now which will allow another person in the box to combat the run. One dimensional teams have struggled against us (Auburn and Kentucky last year, Mississippi state this year), and their passing game just isn't there right now.
