SC hires Helton, Ga Smart, LSU Coach O...a lesson

True, but if you're and LSU fan are you happy with firing Miles for a position coach? Never even been a coordinator? Bizarre move st best

11 seasons and he lost less than 9 twice.

Lots of guys can drive a caddy when you hand the keys to them. Larry Coker has a NC ring.

Miles is gone because he hitched his wagon to Cam cameron. Coach O in his last two interim stints has been successful. The players want him as coach and that is technically is the most important for the program. If O brings in Kiffin, Sark, or even someone like Briles, he just needs to be a figurehead and CEO. Orgeron wanted this job all his life. I think people need to pump the brakes until he puts a staff together.

I would add McElwain. He was not a homerun either.

The SEC has struggled in football to lure in top coaches the last few years for whatever reason.

McElwain was left with a good defense that Muschump left. You can win with a good defense.

Back to Back SEC east titles, how long since UT won back to back SEC titles?

And Miles could have easily brought in Sark in the off season.

to be learned here for those of us who think we can fire Butch and hire Jesus himself.

Those are 3 of the top 7 jobs in the country and they each hired no-names or previous failed head coaches. Don't be naive and think we're going to do any better.

This is not to say those coaches will fail - just that if we fired Butch and hired someone with no HC experience, or one that had been fired from Ole Miss, we'd throw a fit.

Just be careful what you wish for.

Will fall on deaf ears around here for the most part... but spot on.

I predict 0 SEC titles for the Ogre

This would be akin to us firing Jones and making Thigpen HC

No it's not. You have to wait until O builds a staff. If he bring a Kiffin and Sark, I will bet anyone $100 LSU and O get a SEC title before Butch does, much less a division title.

Smart also inherited a team that has had a combine 50-17 record over the last 5 years.
2015 10-3
2014 10-3
2013 8-5
2012 12-2
2011 10-4

Thank you. Ahh yea and we know what butch inherited. Jeez guys

A winning program like LSU just settled for there 3rd choice. Lol

Fire jones and see what happens.

Les had 3 West titles, 2 SEC titles and a NC.

So you're right, it's not the same. In the scope of things it's more like us firing Butch and promoting a graduate assistant

Funny stuff to watch. How much is the buyout to Miles only to hire Orgeron? Agents manipulate the market and dupe the ADs. Coaches can have a major fail like Charlie Strong and net out generational wealth.

Other fan bases clamor to enter the sweepstakes even already with coaches doing phenomenal jobs.

SEC football is really a Y-chromosome soap opera. Nonstop entertainment and drama.

Looks like we may have to take Petrino off the wish list. If he can't beat UK he certainly can't win the East

It starts at the top. A quality AD puts the odds of hiring a great coach in your favor. It's not a coincidence the Sarkisian, Miles, and Richt firings were clusterpucks.

Herman lost to Memphis. Please keep him Houston!!
:lolabove:

It is worse than that. He lost 3 games against a Conf-USA (or whatever it is called) schedule--same number as Butch. Yet, the Legions Of The Miserable would orgasm all over themselves if we replaced Butch with Herman. These people make no sense.

Think about it some more. Texas, with more money than any other program in college football by far, just hired a 3-loss Conf-USA coach as their savior. If you don't think Butch is more attractive than that, you can't be helped.
