Let's beat out Beamer and Swinney for this prospect.

Kid is a great runner. Shaky hands.
BUT

6’1”
Long arms
10.85 - 100 meter as a 10th grader.

He covered 4 star WRs in the 2025 class as well as 2026 class, and shut them down.

After taking some developmental DBs this cycle I’d love if we prioritized this dude
Ty Redmond appears not to be as developmental as he was a good eval by coaches.

But yeah, I’d like to get a plug and play type CB in the 2027 class. Putting McCoy and Gibson both in the NFL should really help with CB recruiting. I’m guessing both are early entrees after this year. McCoy should go R1 and Gibson could be a top 3 round pick.

Yeah Redmond is 25 class, I meant 26.

But agree with everything you said.

Anyone that watched Redmond in high school knew he was going to be really good. I could never understand why he wasn't rated higher. Redmond and Harmon are two guys I watched multiple times last year and even against top competition they consistently stood out.

I just knew he was going to be a really good safety.

Turns out this kid was better than I realized

Tennessee hosted a number of five-stars last weekend, and they will host another this weekend. The No.1 CB in 2027, Joshua Dobson, returns to campus, and he will get plenty of attention from the staff. He was on campus over the summer, and Tennessee will need to keep building momentum to stay in this highly contested battle.

“I am going back to get a deeper look at Tennessee,”

"I want to spend more time with the staff. That is the plan. I will see the game and enjoy that, but this visit is not for the game, it’s about time with the staff.”

“They have made it clear that I am their No. 1 priority on defense and that they have to have me. They say it and they show it, and that means a lot.”

“We have casual talks, they talk about helping their defense, and they can develop players. They play freshmen. They feel I am one of the best in my class, so they want to get me there.”

“They flip guys, they get top players, and they know how to recruit. I think they have the loudest stadium in college football.”

“I feel good about Tennessee. It is a great school and I like them. It will be good to be around the staff again.”

After the ostensible strategy of trying to get overlooked guys in this class, I’m glad to see us going after one of the consensus best DBs in the 27 class. This guy should be a top, top priority and it sounds like he’s exactly that.

I agree. Hopefully 2027 is the class we finally see our scouting and development at corner start to pay off in high school recruiting.

McCoy, Gibson, Hood and Redmond all getting drafted over the next few seasons should make our pitch much more attractive going forward.

Tennessee made a nice impression on 2027 five-star CB Joshua Dobson during his visit last week. The Vols have certainly made him a priority, and he is feeling it. We would not be surprised to see him back at some point this year, as he wants to continue to learn more about the program.
