Say It Ain't So...CBS

CBS is definatly the prefered network to watch CFB games.

FALSE.

Whereas ABC and ESPN actually show the field of play, the CBS cameras are going everywhere --seats, pressbox, coaches, cheerleaders with nasally voices. It is constant. If you are lucky they get the cameras back to the field milliseconds before the snap.

The commercials are longer on CBS and even when they get you back to the game they continuously shoot up ads in front of your face.Just count how many CSI, etc. ads come up today. These come up even when the game is at its tensest of moments. Lundquist mis-sees plays constantly and then they start rooting for the Gators halfway through the third quarter every game they play.

ESPN may or may not have bias against Tennessee. But CBS loves the Gators. If you don't believe me just go look on the Florida message board. They love watching games on CBS. When the Gators lose it's never because you beat them, it's because they made a couple of mistakes and you got lucky. I personally can't stand CBS coverage and am very glad I will be in attendance today.

Call me what you will, but Verne is my favorite. Sure he loved Tebow, and cant even get the names of the teams right, but 90% of the announcers out there are... well just annoying. I liked when Todd B was with him, but I really like Gary too (not so much his voice).

I like Danielson, Vern doesn't have a lot to contribute. It's like Danielson pretends he's talking to a knowledgeable football person in the booth.

John Ward with mute on was the BEST!

GO VOLS!!

I agree 1000% on John Ward on the radio. Verne and Gary always seem like they're pulling for the other team. They were talking about Kiffin within a minute of being on the air and tebow within two.:furious3:
GO! VOLS!

My brother and I have been counting, 17 Tebow references so far by Verne and Danielson. Also, Verne referred to Simms as Ainge. Really, Verne?

These two are awful, but CBS just continues to punish the SEC.

What drove me crazy was that they seemed scared to say what Simms was doing wrong (maybe cause Phil works for CBS)anyways, I couldn't help but feel that they were bias when it came to Florida. I swear to God if I had to hear Verne talk about how inferior our athletes were to Florida's I was going to throw the TV out the window. Not to mention they talked about Tebow more than Brantley and their savior isnt even there anymore.

Danielson is the best out there in my opinion. He knows the game and never gets off on non-football tangents. Just stays right on top of each play and sees what each team is trying to do.
Lundquist I could do without.
Still miss the good ole days of Mike Gottfried and Ron Franklin.

Mike & Ron takes me back to my days as a young Ladd. I miss those guys as well. What was espn thinking when they split those two up?

What bothered me was when they called Lance Thompson, Coach Wilcox! They don't look that much alike! Although they were both wearing black shirts! :jpshakehead:

Sorry for the bump but it wouldn't be our first game on CBS if I didn't voice my disdain for Verne Lundquist commentating on football.....I'm all for giving grandpa a job, but why oh why must it be the prime afternoon football game on CBS.

Nothing was better than Saturday night SEC games on ESPN in the mid to late 90s with Gottfried and Franklin. I remember watching Auburn's gymnastics building burn to the ground right behind Jordan Hare during the LSU game in 96.

I hear they're going with Gus Johnson and Pat Summerall this year. Erin Andrews will be naked on the sideline, and Todd Blackledge is going to remote broadcast a special Taste of the Town segment from Litton's as Adam Richman takes on a colossal burger challenge.

Verne can't keep up with the action IMO. He is constantly rambling of stuff that either makes no sense or would have been relevant 10 seconds earlier.

Yep, he's getting senile and needs to be replaced badly. He also has/had a severe case of Tebow-itis; always in the tank for him no matter the outcome; pathetic.
