As light as they were in numbers, it's a wonder our team accomplished what it did the past two years. This year, this year...I think they're up a level or two. Without getting all manic, I'm thinking they might go into every game expecting to compete all the way and win.

If Dooley is half the coach we are hoping he is, they did that last year.

A few things he touched on about the team:
-The last couple of years recruiting wise have our O-line exactly where he wants them to be (skill, talent, depth and potential).
-He is very excited about our talent at the skill positions.
-Didnt seem concerned about Brays performance in the spring game and mentioned the fact that he is basically throwing to a brand new set of recievers.
-Next years punt returner will be one of the guys coming in from this years recruiting class.

Different people have different learning styles. I didn't do well learning from team or group work, but worked best alone and when dealing with books. The problem was when alone, I seemed to come up with creative ways to apply what I learned. This caused classmates to request me for a partner for team and group work. I never did do so well when forced into the format. The other odd thing was when alone, I'd engage in things that had nothing to do with the issue at hand. This often gave me an idea on how to go about getting the task done. That's one reason I sort of liked the STNG character Lt. Barclay, especially the episode where he solved the long range communication issue with Voyager while using the holo-deck and tossing a ball around. It paralleled my learning process as a student very well. Fuzzy logic, I guess.

I saw Ty Willingham speak once and came away from it quite impressed...

Not trying to be a troll here, but good speaking ability doesn't mean good coach. That said, I agree with some of the other people on here and think that Dooley does have what it takes, but I'll give it a couple of years before I proclaim him as the savior of UT football.

True. It appears that CDD practices what he preaches. THAT's what I want.

There is no question about Dooleys recruiting ability...He has already proven himself. Just wait until he is able to develop relationships with prospects and h.s. coaches over time. Sky is the limit:rock:

I totally agree with this statement. Dooley did what he had to do, got most of the top talent from Tennessee and also made huge inroads in GA and FL. I think the relationships this staff has made in GA and FL cannot be underestimated. It will prove very fruitful in the future.

Their seem to be a lot of you guys on here that have issues with Dooleys' recruiting. I think their was a link on here last week discussing the recruiting philosophy of Saban and the coaches that have worked for him. I thought the article was very informative on the process that is involved in recruiting, and not once did they mention the number of stars a recruit has or doesn't have.

yes to the above but Saban's classes have been extremely well ranked and have converted that ranking into wins. Dooley has not up to this point done that because it is too early to tell what his philosophy will bring to the won-loss column. Now as it relates to the posters saying he has done a great job in recruiting what is the basis of their belief?? Hope, surely it is not based on W's so any point either for his recruiting ability or against it has merit in my book. I know we want it to be so but that is what it is hope. Let's settle back and watch because that is the only way we settle the argument. I hope it works but hope is not a method.

He was great, made a lot of our kids very happy by walking around and signing things for them. IMO one of the best speakers we have ever had for a steak and burger dinner. When he opened up for questions...I immediately thought how many on here would love to ask questions / give comments...and then I look up and see that one of my Club kids was getting ready to ask a question - was really worried about what he was going to ask, ha...

I agree we don't have definitive proof as to Dooleys' recruiting prowess just yet, but the process he seems to use is proven. As we look at future classes we will have a better gauge by which to use.

Did he ask how far the quarteback could kick the ball? That was funny! Loved the kids asking questions!
