Saturdays game will be a test for the fanbase

to be fair, it's no different than stating "he should win" prior to the game. you're pre loading your arguments against him based on your perception of what "should" happen.

really no different than what he's doing, by pre loading the argument why it's not the end of the world if we lose.

it ensures that you both will be opposing each other no matter what happens.

it's like nuclear deterrence. you've to got stock up now, and hope you don't have to use them.:eek:lol:

i should know, i do it all the time. i've psyched myself out of so many games before hand lately, that when we did wind up losing it didn't bother me. it works.:good!:

Eh. I don't know that I totally agree with all of that. Mizzou is good enough to win but they can't beat UTs B game right now. Is it the end of the world if UT leaves with an L? No. But this is one of those games that probably matters more if you lose. Some won't agree with that but its just the nature given where the opponent is in their season.

Yes we should, and fairly easy

If we don't, its a huge debacle

Agreed. Butch doesn't deserve criticism for losing to Bama. However, he would get a lot of credit (and rightfully so) for beating them.

It's the opposite with Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and yes, this Missouri team. Hell, beating Missouri this year isn't the same as beating them last year.

I personally cant see this as a expected win. They are as good as we are and we will be on the road with cold weather issues, etc.

I hope we win this game, but I dont hink we will, just my gut.

Put down the crack pipe!

If we lose to a team that has lost to both Vandy and Kentucky, it's another epic Stooley moment. Stooley shouldn't have been allowed back on the bus from Lexington. Lose this game, and kiss the BSiA goodbye!

THIS IS A MUST WIN GAME. I don't care how many poopsitkas have been painted in the world!! I'm farther to the Left than Leon Trotsky, but TENNESSEE MUST WIN THIS GAME!

Will Vol fans come away with torn ACL's and MCL's as well as ankle and foot injuries, or just bruised ego's?

Vols win a hard fought SEC road game, perhaps?

If we win, but don't cover the spread, people will complain, if we lose, I'll have to avoid Volnation for a few days until all the Fahr Butch threads go away

Already getting the excuses ready so Butch doesn't seem as bad if he ****s up again?

Not at all. You and the other rickybobbys just love to assume. And all that leads to is ignorant asinine posts like yours. If Butch screws up and costs us the game, then I will say he did. Unlike you though, I will not just assign blame without evidence for it.

So do you have your Butch hate speech ready just in case we lose?

Win or lose how will everyone react?

This game has nothing to do with the fanbase. This is one of the most resilient fanbases in the country. In fact, when you consider this program and what the fans have endured that is the only resilient factor at Tennessee.

This game is a test for this coaching staff who is making big money to turn this program around. So far they are at a B- or C+.

Lose this game and they are sliding toward a D. Lose this game and Vandy then they deserve a F. People can scream injuries all they want but every SEC team suffers injuries.

It is always about the W's and L's. I am surprised that people are already trying to lower expectations for 2016 due to the complexity of the schedule. This is the SEC and everyone plays difficult schedules. The teams that win celebrate and the teams that lose continue to make the same excuses.

Coach Jones, will you be celebrating or making excuses next year? It is really that simple.

This resilient fanbase has an eye on you.

As I recall, Butch is tied with Stoops as the 10th highest paid coach in the league. Perhaps, we need to use a different metric.

Well put.

Go Vols!

True. But that doesnt change the fact that UT has the better team and has played better football than Mizzou has this year.

You're correct. However upsets happen almost every week in football. Anything can happen. Its not an excuse, its just a fact.

It'll be a big disappointment if we lose, but for me, it takes a certain "moment" before I abandon ship. Ironically, Dooley's came against Missouri at home when he went full blown coward and didn't call timeout to even think about playing for the win. I was in the stadium that day and had supported him until then, even though I was having some serious doubts. I don't see Butch having such a moment Saturday. Yes I know about Oklahoma (I was there) and Florida. I've wondered about play calls and strategy here and there, just like I did with Fulmer's 98 team, but never once had misgivings about the direction we were going in. In short, national champions even make you wonder sometimes.

I think we win Saturday. In fact, in my gut, I feel that it's a fact we will. Time will tell. I honestly don't see a "Dooley moment" in this game, though. I'm all in with Butch. Card-carrying sunshine pumper, guilty as charged.

It's just a numbers thing now.
We need to have 8 wins.
We need it for our fan base.
We need it for national perception of our resurgence.
We need it for our recruiting.
We need it to ward off negative recruiting.
8 Wins right now is a very big deal.
And, it just might lead to 10 or even more in 2016.
Go Vols! Beat Mizzou!

This is a test for the coaches. Fanbase is fine. The bar was set at 8 wins before the season started. Next year is the big year for CBJ with the bar set at 10. I want him to have that chance but I also expect the next two won.

I personally think we will lose this game.since the 2nd half of the ky game we gone backward.

we are a much better team than miss state ,but the 2 steps backward we took are a problem, so who will show up the team that barely lost to bama,or the team who struggle against ky second half, usc and ntsu.
just got a feeling this cold weekend is going to be a downer.

For me personally, I will be happy with a win regardless of the score. I will be upset with a loss but not totally shocked.

Now as for VN? Well here are the scenarios I can envision:

1. We win in somewhat dominating fashion. VN be like, well Mizzou is garbage, Debord should have done this or that, Butch should have done this or that, this is exactly what I expected. Dont get too excited because its only Mizzou.

2. We win a close, tough nailbiter. VN be like, well Mizzou is garbage, Debord should have called this or that, Butch should have done this or that, this is exactly what I expected. We are in serious trouble because we couldnt win big and cover the spread. We are in trouble because look what their offense did against our defense. We suck

3. We lose a close, tough nailbiter. VN be like, well Mizzou is garbage and look what they did to us. Our defense and offense sucks. Debord sucks. Jancek sucks. Butch sucks. They should have done this or that. They need to be fired. We still cant beat Mizzou and are the doormats of the SEC.

4. We lose and get dominated. Well Mizzou is garbage and look what they did to us. Our defense and offense sucks. Debord, Jancek and Jones all suck and need to be fired. They should have done this or that. We suck. We will never see x wins. And a whole crap ton of this right here --->:cray::cray::cray::cray::cray:.

Basically however we win, there will be some on VN who will find a reason to complain about it.

If we lose, then it will be more of the same old worthless crap. Did I leave anything out?

Yes.

1. If Tennessee wins big: Butch gets it! Greatest coach since the General! He loves Tennessee!

2. If Tennessee wins a tough game: Butch gets it! Greatest coach since the General! He loves Tennessee!

3. If Tennessee loses a close game: Butch gets it! He needs more players! Youth! Greatest coach since the General! He loves Tennessee!

4. If Tennessee gets blown out: Butch gets it! He needs more players! Youth! Negative fans caused this! Butch needs a raise to help get more recruits in here! Greatest coach since the General! He loves Tennessee!

That should cover it....

What does Florida Atlantic have to do with anything?

I just see a lot of concern and angst over this week's game against Missouri and I don't think there is any reason to be concerned. I think Tennessee will win fairly easily.

With all due respect, you've also picked Tennessee to beat Florida the last two years "fairly easily".
