game since the Vanderbilt debacle that likely kept us from the Sugar Bowl a couple of seasons ago! Thankfully that was the beginning of the end for gym coach Jones! I think everyone here agrees that a win Saturday combined with a weak upcoming 5 games and the Vols could make a name for themselves finishing out 8-5, likely a top25 ranking and a head of steam going into 2019, very likely w a top 20 ranking!!

Saturday is the key and it's gonna be a tough one for us to win. Mizz is good offensively, easily one of the best in the SEC when in rhythm. Lock is legit and they are as balanced as anyone in the league.

To win we've got to give JG time to throw as he'll pick em apart if we do. Once again, we've got to be somewhat effective running the football. Do those on offense will help control their tempo a bit leading to a close game in the 4th quarter!! Anybodies game once the crowd gets going late in the 4th!! I believe our D will make plays late if it's a close game. Mizz is much more inconsistent than we are, they have zero following them (their home crowd vs Vandy looked like a high school game on tv), they struggled with Ky who we just manhandled and it looks like the light is coming on and the game is slowing down for a bunch of the players and the Vols look to be having FUN as a group.

If they dominate our running game and pressure JG it's going to be a long day, if the OL plays like Auburn and Ky games we could easily dominate them at Neyland!!

I want to say we win easily but Lock is too good I believe. I think the OL gets challenged again this week by CJP and the staff and the offense has a big day! Vols 31 Mizz 30!

If that happens it's Katie bar the door as our Vols will be on the fast track to competing again in this incredibly tough conference!!

I believe that Coach Pruitt will beat Fl, Ga and Alabama at some point in his time in Knoxville and I believe JG will pick up wins vs all 3 as well!!! You do the math NegaVols, this turn around happens faster than anybody currently believes is possible!!

PROVIDING we upset Mizz this Saturday :)

I curious to see how Tenn offense does, we clearly are weak at the Back end but our Run D. is credible at times. I do believe we will be able to move the ball on the Vol defense in the Air or on the Ground the question is will we be focused and dialed in?

We are turning the corner. I expect us to beat Mo, but even if some how that don’t happen we are still in good hands with CJP&S.
We’ve had a few games that could have gone our way by not playing our best. Combine with the learning curve of our new defensive scheme just make the future look even better. Our D will be running down hill for our bowl game this year and our Offense will finally seem to click.

Go Vols! I hope that the fact that we are 1 game away from a bowl bid gives our kids the extra motivation this week in practice and in the game. In addition, some of our players that had some injuries over the last several weeks seem to be getting healthy at the right time. Time to tame the Tigers and go bowling!!!

Like what you say. But I have a hard time getting that "up".
Zeroing in just a little past units; Tuttle may be the key on defense. His "up the middle"on pass plays will be important. (how good are their center and guards?). When he is "on" Taylor can have a big day with backs having to watch for up the middle....

With 2017 UT game on Miz resume, where they literally ran all over us, I'd expect their game plan to be similar to SC...establish the run and gash us in passing game when we bite to stop the run. Wouldn't be surprised to see them line up in the double TE sets that SC ran...hope we have a better answer than in Columbia. Years of self inflicted losses has me in the camp of not really confident in a win, but know we can. Miz is good team.

Expectations? I have followed Tennessee for too many years to count to realize I need to be guarded with regards to my expectations. I would bet Las Vegas has lost more money on Tennessee than any other college football program, hands down! My expectation is Tennessee will play a game Saturday, weather permitting, nothing more, nothing less.

On the positive side, if we play a game like we played against Kentucky then my expectations will be more positive. The danger is, and history backs this, we may play a game like we did against Charlotte! Here is to wishing we "turn the corner" this Saturday! GO VOLS!

My only concern with this game is if it will be entertaining to watch. I don't think our young secondary can match their QB if he has time to throw. JP is a defensive guy and I am sure he has something in mind. Probably going to gamble and bring someone on every play to pressure the guy? I just want for a competitive game. The Vandy game different story, I expect them to win the Vandy game and not by a field goal.

Look, I am excited too, we certainly haven't seen these signs of progress for what seems like a very long time, but lets not put the cart before the horse here. I think we can certainly beat Mizzou and Vandy, but neither one will be easy wins. They way we turn the corner, is through recruiting. Yes, we we could be 8-5 to end the season and that by all accounts would be outstanding, and Coach Pruitt deserves praise for a job well done. They way the recruiting class finishes out this year will more significant on how fast this turnaround happens.

My hopes at the beginning of the season was 1 no quitting, 2 improvement each week, 3 see our players develope thru the season. I think we are close to accomplishing all 3. Another thing I was looking for is no off field distractions and hadn't heard of any. It will be a big challenge Saturday just hope we continue to grow regardless of outcome. For the first time in many of moons there is excitement around the liars table where I eat breakfast and it's a tough bunch to impress. They have all bought in to how Pruitt is handling his business.GBO!
