I know many of us were hopeful after the heartbreak in Baton Rouge last year that this could be a redemption game. But realistically we had slim chances of beating LSU this year. Most of us agreed at the start of the season that beating either UGA or USC in October would be a good outcome. We can still do that, and with all the problems South Carolina is having (losing their qb and Heisman candidate rb) I am pretty confident we beat them in Neyland. Vandy and KY are wins, as is MTSU. We have a shot at Arkansas. That is 7-8 wins that are still very attainable, and a bowl win would have us at 8-9 wins this season and right on track as far as rebuilding is concerned, with a promising schedule and returning roster next year.
I am only posting this because I am aware how easy it is to get lost in despair after painful losses, and we are most likely sandwiched between two of them this week. But take a deep breath, step back, and try to see the whole picture. This can still be a very solid season, and it is going to get better.

I thought we all knew that this would be a rough year, and 2012 would be the year we could get excited about. I guess some people expected the impossible

Guys, look at what has happened to this team. Look at the colts for instance. They lost Peyton.. they are TERRIBLE. Mostly the same team minus Peyton changed their whole year. Losing Hunter was like losing our left nut. Then losing Bray didn't help any. Not giving this year away, because I expect us to get into a bowl, win the bowl, beat Kentucky, beat USCjr, beat Vandy. We can't have high hopes as Dooley was left with nothing besides 1 deep roster. He will build it up.

We might possibly have an outside shot with South Carolina. Arkansas, though? Stretching it a bit.

SC defense is too good for us without Bray. Vandy may take us out again and if we're 4-7 going into KY, Lord only knows how jacked up the Mildcats will be for a down and out Vols squad.

The same people who were posting about the chances of getting shutout two weeks in a row are now wanting blood for losing Saturday.. Seems to me we beat those low expectations they had.
And yes, bright side: SC is collapsing weekly, and is vulnerable.

USC is much less threatening without Lattimore. Look at that team before he got there. He changed everything. They still have a pretty good defensive line, but UT should be able to keep it close. We'll see though.
