SARKISIAN FIRED

I have watched a lot of falcons games and I think sark did good job
considering the falcons team had many injuries through out the roster.

There was an article in a publication in which he was very honest about his experience. But, maybe I'll give him a call tonight, Richard.
Good job being an ass to a long time, well respected poster who’s rarely had beef with anyone and brought a lot of good info over the years. People like you are the reason why we’re stuck with the Orange Defenses of the world.

Calm down, pal. Your blood pressure is going up. Not a healthy way to live.

Everyone is very emotional about this higher. I don’t understand people being negative, saying we don’t know how to hire a coach. I’m sure Phillip Fulmer knows how to hire a coach.

Pruitt interviewed three guys a few weeks ago, and the rumor was Yurcich was is the most impressive. Now we make an offer to Yurcich. Seems Pruitt wants Yurcich.

I read about most of the top candidates and I feel we will find a good coach. My preference is Yurcich followed by Sark and Applewhite.

I like the offense Yurcich runs, and I feel we need something that will excite players and help in recruiting. The offense he runs is the trend in college football, just like the read option was 15 years ago.

Don’t fear, we will find a good coach.

its okay. wasn't offended in the least by what he said. I was just curious if he got it from the horses mouth.

I heard directly from Shoop Jones promised him his own staff if year one didn't work out and then Jones reneged on that in year 2. Shoop was leaving after year 2 but Jones took care of that..

Pruitt never offered Yurcich. Has not offered the job to anyone. He is still going to look at candidates to find someone that he can work with..

LWS you usually have solid info. Is this a fact or your opinion? Because I find it hard to believe

Reasons why we don't have a OC yet.
1. HC JP hasn't found who he wants
2. Waiting for an OC who is on staff else where to complete their bowl season and then the talking starts
3. as HC JP indicated he wants to put more value on recruits interest in him and our school brand not the flash in the pan hiring of a new OC
4. maybe there is truth to potential OC hires realizing that we don't have the jimmies and the joe's on offense making the job kinda tough in the SEC-rather come into a stable of mustangs not burros
5. a potential OC wants a lot of control be it through play calling and bringing in their own staff
6. he has who he wants right now on staff-just wants to finish out recruiting season because that announcement would bring such negative attention from Vol fans on the program that Coach Pruitt doesn't need
7. this hire has to meet the total approval of both CPJ and Coach Fulmer -check all blocks on both individual hiring check list
8. top tier of UT athletic boosters have their hands in it
9. nobody wants the job
10. the program has lost its appeal
11. to much local scrutiny by the local media and UT Athletics web site guru's

Personally I just hope we find the right person to bring back the spirit of the Vol Nation-and that we can focus on supporting Tennesssee Football -like we are now with Tennessee Basketball

Please add if you wish

@zydane47

Pruitt did seem VERY frustrated with the O this year. With Helton not understanding what he wanted or sometimes even just knowing what the score was on play calls.

And Pruitt put the O in bad positions too and admitted it several times. (That was refreshing)

Both him and Sark are both smart but aggressive on the field and in recruiting and I hope Sark is the guy.

But if not, I trust Pruitt. He is definitely focused on winning.

I think Pruitt wanted us to line up and run the ball like Alabama....and I hope we get (back) to that point soon...

Unlike Sarkissian, teams he has coordinated for have shown marked improvement, more than once. His second year at Bama as OC they went from 7-6 to 12-1; he was OC the two years that Herman coached at Houston.
Of all the proposed candidates, Applewhite is the most confounding. Never understood why he keeps getting chance after chance.

@Sarms58

I believe Pruitt just wants someone who wants to win as bad as he does. And with that having a balance of playing smart, but playing to win and not scared to make a mistake.

He worked for Saban yes, and has a lot of his building a program model. But he is a son of a HS coach, his mentor is Rush Propst. Who believes and is successful with a balanced attack. Pruitt is a very aggressive coach, like his mentor Propst. We saw that this year with his playcalling.

He gets painted into the box of the old Saban mold. But from what I’ve seen, he wants to win. He wants his defense aggressive, his O to not put the D in a bad position. But they have to attack with balance....

The way he was mentored from Rush Propst.

Even Saban has adopted that model now.

Quote on Sark's dismissal from Falcons:

"Former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan was one of the primary reasons Atlanta was able to reach the Super Bowl two years ago. Shanahan took the 49ers' head-coaching job, and the Falcons stupidly replaced Shanahan with Sarkisian, a poor coach with a history of alcohol issues. The Falcons scored 12.5 fewer points per game under Sarkisian in his first year with the Falcons. Their scoring went up a bit in 2018, but only because Atlanta added another viable receiver in Calvin Ridley. The Falcons still struggled immensely in the red zone, and it took forever for Sarkisian to figure out how to get the ball to Julio Jones when the team was near the goal line.

Sarkisian should've been fired last offseason, but better late than never. I imagine Sarkisian will return to the college ranks, where he'll continue to underachieve and ruin more team pep rallies."

Oh, Scooter! He was only at Bama one season. Anything else?
