SARKISIAN FIRED

Matt Ryan had his second best year statistically. Julio Jones had the second most receptions, yards, and TDs of his career as well. It's fun throwing out fantasty football stats though without acknowledging Atlanta had injuries at RB that severely hampered them.
It's also fun when people can't recognize sarcasm.

I wouldn’t say there’s no way he would be successful here. As good as the SEC is it’s still the JV to the NFL’s varsity. The man has great experience having run major college programs, been OC at major programs, and having been OC in the NFL. I think he has a shot at being successful given that experience. On the other hand, he wasn’t the right guy for Atlanta. As a Falcons fan I’m glad they are moving on.
That's two that don't recognize sarcasm. Three more and I get a helmet sticker.

any hire he makes could turn into a mistake.

Jones hired Bob Shoop who was up for coordinator of the year this season in college football. But at Tennessee, he was a mistake.

Hmmm? Shoop did well at Vandy, Penn State, and Miss State but sucked at Tennessee. Gee I wonder what the
"Common De-Numb-Nuts-O-Nator" was? ( Spoiler Alert: his initials are Lyle Allen Jones).

What is a homerun hire? Mike Locksley? 3-30 (roughly) as a head coach? Yurcich when OK St. hired him from a DII school? ANY of the following are solid Football guys that bring something good to the table: Yurcich, Sarkisian, Applewhite, Osovet, Kitchens, RIcht, Fedora, Streeter, Whether or not they are a "homerun" depends on other things besides how many likes they have on social media. Hiring coaches is not an exact science and whether or not they pan out depends on more than just a name. The only certainty in the whole process is how many people are gonna bitch and moan no matter what.

Well said bud!

Sark would do great.....Saban didn't bring him to Tuscaloosa for nothing..... If he had not got the Falcons offer he would be OC at Baja right now! Think about that for a minute!

I would call Major Applewhite and ask him if he wanted an evening or a morning flight to Knoxville tomorrow, and if he had any preference as to what stock paper the contract should be printed on. I'd tell him we were giving him a $1 mil. per year raise over his most recent contract. If he passed, which seems unlikely at this juncture, I'd call Kiffin and offer him the same salary I just offered Applewhite; if he passed, which seems about as likely right now as a starving bear passing on honey, I'd offer that same salary to Yurcich. If I couldn't get Yurcich I'd offer said salary amount to Jake Spavital. If I whiffed on all four of the above, I'd go back to the top of the list and offer $3 mil.

It's not like we don't have the money - we've been pinching pennies on HC hires for thirty years now so we're due to spend for once.
Of all the proposed candidates, Applewhite is the most confounding. Never understood why he keeps getting chance after chance.
