Sark hire would have a LARGE impact on recruiting

The blank is that he got offered the HC job at Liberty which is a better job than OC at Tennessee. Especially in a league that wants results now and very little talent to work with.

And like someone already said, idk what his salary is, but Liberty is more than a capable of matching whatever we would have paid him.
Lots of posters IMO are overlooking the image laundering going on with his taking a job at Liberty. After a few years there he will be ready to take a major P5 job without a lot of flak. After all if he's good enoiugh for a fundamental Baptist school like Liberty to take him on, what other school would refuse to hire him for moral issues clearly behind him?

@BigOrangeMojo

Not getting the ball to Julio in red zone is not on Sark. That’s all Matt Ryan, that guy can’t read a defense and will just stare down his wide receiver. Plus everyone just double teams Julio in red zone anyway. That’s not on Sark. That’s on Ryan not keeping a D honest and using the whole field

You mean the Julio Jones that lead the NFC in receiving this year? As you've stated yourself, Julio was double teamed in the red zone and Ryan had to look for other options. WTF? Michael Vick fan maybe?

Yes seriously, Matt Ryan has done less with more than any qb in probably the history of football. He really can’t read a defense. But has crazy anticipation & accuracy.

And trying to compare sark as a downgrade in production from Shanny in the NFL is hard to do and be honest with yourself. This year ATL with sark had one hand tied behind their back with Freeman hurt.
“In the history of the NFL, only two quarterbacks have ever strung together (3) or more consecutive seasons with 4,500+ passing yards, 25+ touchdown passes, while maintaining a completion percentage above 66.0. The first was Peyton Manning, whose streak has continued for (5) consecutive seasons (2009-10, 2012-14). The other is Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan.”
While sark certainly doesn’t deserve all the blame, he does deserve his fair share. Matt Ryan has been a great QB plagued by bad defenses and by O-line play. The reason shanny was more successful is because his offenses translate better in the NFL. While Ryan isn’t the best QB in the league, he’s probably top 5 and has been for a while with an MVP year as well. Ryan has had Julio, but Brady had moss, Peyton had Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison and other Pro bowl receivers in Denver. It’s actually hard to think of a great QB who hasn’t had at least one great receiver.

@Atlanta917

In the history of the NFL how many qb’s couldn’t protect a 28-3 lead in the 4th quarter of a Super Bowl?
What does that have to do with how good Matt Ryan is? His numbers were great that game. Is it his fault his defense collapsed? I guess he should’ve played linebacker and corner that game too.

AB was double teamed all year and still led the league in TD receptions. AB>Julio

I’m not saying that sark can’t be a good college OC. I’m just saying it’s stupid to say he failed in Atlanta because of Matt Ryan when there’s a mountain of evidence that suggests otherwise.

Sarkisian looking at all possibilities part of the plan

“My guess is that he is enjoying the NFL life and not dealing with recruiting and has the offseason to spend with his kids,” Booty said. “From a football perspective, I really do not know what he likes better.”

Now that Sarkisian is available, Vols Wire learned Wednesday that the former USC and Washington head coach, and Alabama analyst and offensive coordinator who worked alongside Jeremy Pruitt in 2016, will look for other opportunities in the NFL, but will also entertain college opportunities like Tennessee.

Booty. Ha.

Yah. That or Southern Methodist University.

There is a lot of conversation regarding Sark on the boards. I haven’t seen many comments about Sark’s recruiting background. There are dozens of articles out there about USC recruiting as soon as he got that HC gig. Pruitt + Sark could make UT recruiting special.

With the recruiting going on in Athens, it’s needed.
While he would recruit well, he managed to make Matt Ryan, Júlio Jones and Calvin Ridley look like second stringers in the red zone.

If he is able to do that, how bad would he make JG and our WRs look?

It was an issue last year, but they were top 1/3 of the league in red zone TDs this year.

For some reason Julio has never been the td guy. Not sure why. Only one season in double digits in his career. But dude can rack up some catches and yards.

They went from 1st to 15th(2017 ) and 11th in 2018 in scoring offense..

I dont think its a bad hire but Im just saying its not a slam dunk home run hire...

Their defense couldn't get off the field, severely limited offensive time of possession. Also, lost starting Pro-Bowl caliber RB 2nd game of the year for entire season....

The 2016 defense was the aberration. It coming back to earth was crushing to offensive statistics.
