Sark hire would have a LARGE impact on recruiting

Say what you want, but i would hire Kiffin as OC. The guy is good at play calling. If you going to pay Helton 1.2 million i bet that's more than Kiffin makes at his job now. The guy done his job at Bama when he was there. and you didn't hear anything about him. Kiffin is as good as anyone out there.

Did you see what happened to FAU offense after Kendall Briles left? Kiffin is such an offensive guru he hired Charlie Weiss, Jr. and the offense was much less effective this year. Who was the offensive guru at FAU? It was Briles! Most college programs with new HCs make their most improvement from year 1 to year 2. FAU went from 11-3 with Briles to 5-7 this year. Am I saying Kiffin isn't a good OC? NO! But, UT could do much better. I don't get all the Kiffin love. He has proved nothing when he didn't have superior talent with USC or Bama. He even got fired from USC with a ton of 4/5 star talent competing against the PAC 12. His daddy and the all star staff he had, Orgeron, Wilson, Gran, Thompson, and Chaney were more responsible for the success during his one year with UT than he was. He did do a good job with Crompton. But, Kiffin isn't an elite OC in my opinion. He needs superior talent to be an elite OC. We need an OC that will be elite even when UT has less talent than the likes of UGA, Florida, Bama, LSU, Auburn, and Texas A & M. It will be a while before we catch up with the talent level of those teams. All the Kiffin love on this site amazes me.

I dont get posters here. I dont have the football knowledge to really know how good Sarkisian is or not but who could complain IF Pruitt gets him? I mean what do you want? Helton wasnt good enough because he "had no experience" as a play caller in the SEC and then Sark is not good enough because his stints as HC in Washinton, HC at USC, OC at Bama and OC in the friggen NFL arent good enough for you? SMDH

And if I hear another word about his drinking I will start telling you young'uns some stories about a former coach named Johnny that you might have heard of.

The drinking is a non issue.
Has had good offenses in the past. His resume will hold up with the OC at AL & Uga for recruiting. Is well known in ATL and at USC recruiting hot beds.
Way better then anyone we have had in a while. As good as any realistic candidate we have talked about.
I would take kitchens or Chaney over Sark.

Foootball is a team game and coaches are subject to bad years based on the players they have, injuries, luck etc. over the long haul Sark has done a good job.

Love seeing self-righteous, 'holy' and judgmental Vols showed their proper place by having the very short-comings they put down others for, handed to them. Wish I could have given you 150 likes.

Agree with the CA thing but really need to start winning high profile guys away from UGA and Clemson. Hate seeing those guys in Clemson game which could/should be Vols.
Yeah Clemson QB, is a big Manning fan that's why he wears 16. He called Manning for advice for the game yesterday. That kid is a kid that can make a team great and he should be at UT Vols. Also during the game there was players that was from are state. Clemson has took our spot since Fulmer was fired.

Pruitt wanted Freeze but Fulmer (most likely big brass) stopped it. I don’t think Briles was an option. It’s been NFL guy for awhile now. Make fun of Matthews but he is probably right (95% done)
Please cite your source for this statement. That was from one of the 17.4 million opinion pieces put out early on in this process.

What proof that he can recruit??

Either way, we need a dang Xs and Os genius, we have enough recruiters. Clemson is what you get with great coaches and consistency. Their recruiting is nothing special.

I believe it was Barnhart on Matthews show a couple weeks ago that said something like “Pruitt originally wanted Freeze but they found out that wasn’t an option so Freeze took the Liberty job. It’s still too early for Freeze to get back in the SEC right now” And Matthews didn’t dispute his statement at all.

There is a lot of conversation regarding Sark on the boards. I haven’t seen many comments about Sark’s recruiting background. There are dozens of articles out there about USC recruiting as soon as he got that HC gig. Pruitt + Sark could make UT recruiting special.

With the recruiting going on in Athens, it’s needed.

I think Pruitt has realized the run first, run often offense isn’t going to work for us in the modern SEC. We don’t have the talent to push around UGA and Bama. Need to try something different but sustainable.

There is more to it than that. There is a recent article about CTH all but said the CJP made the decision to install his framework and philosophies this season to build for the future. I think the meaning is that he knew well that the guys on the roster could not execute a pro style O or a 34 defense. Its not a terrible decision when you look at the fact that these same guys could not execute a spread and a 43 defense. He might as well build for the future.

I think the run first philosophy come as much from the fact that defenses sat on the short and intermediate routes on 1st and 2nd down and dared us to beat their front 4 and we could not do it and didn't have the protection to develop routes downfield. Play calling was as much limited by ability to execute as it was play calling.

These are not excuses , but is if hard to fault these things when you took over the worst team in UT's 100 plus year history. The real test and time to be critical is next season when he has had time to develop a QB and O line and has what appears to be some depth on defense. I will hold judgement until then

But everyone told me an OC wouldn’t shouldn’t couldn’t affect recruiting at all.

Strange times indeed.

The same guy that tried to sell us on Schiano last year is now trying to sell us on Sark...

His last 2 OC gigs cost Bama a natty and turned the high powered Falcons offense into a mediocre offense that cant get the ball to Julio in the red zone...
It's never the defense is it? Bama lost to Clemson with a last minute Clemson td

My point was this. That statement was a sports talk host asking another beat writer about his opinion of who he thought would be the new OC. Nothing official from anyone.
