Sark hire would have a LARGE impact on recruiting

From the beginning of Sark's tenure through week 8 this season, Julio Jones led all NFL players in targets receptions and yards outside the red zone. Once the Falcons got in the red zone, Julio wasnt in top 40 in NFL.

By any objective measure, the Falcons regressed on offense in 2017 and 2018 compared to 2016.

Again those are facts...
But you are trying to make it look like their offense went to complete **** lol

At this point, I’ll be surprised if we hire anyone. It’s been a while. Doesn’t seem like winning programs take this long to fill vital coaching position vacancies, but oh well. Hoping this delay just means we are waiting to get a great one.

Nailed it. UT is actually getting rid of football and delaying the OC hire is the first step of their 5 year plan. They hired an Alabama guy to get the process going.

@BigOrangeMojo

Not getting the ball to Julio in red zone is not on Sark. That’s all Matt Ryan,

Based on the # of TD's Julio has had each season, you could be right. But, for a QB that stares down his receivers, Ryan has a very high completion % (69%) and very low INT% (1.1%). I see a number of OCs scheme to get the ball to their premier WR in the end zone. With Sanu and Ridley, there is no reason that the Falcons cannot do the same other than their OC can't get it done.

Well, after hiring “Bama” Dave Hart to be our AD and then following it up with John Currie (I won’t even bother to mention Mike Hamilton, Derek Dooley, and Butch Jones), the idea of UT systematically deciding to end the football program actually seems to have been in progress for a while now.

Joking aside, it just seems like we are moving very slow. That might be due to a deliberate, patient approach to getting it right ... or it could mean more of the recent UT incompetence. I’m hopeful that Pruitt and Fulmer are doing this right. I guess we’ll find out soon - or someday, at least.

Matt Ryan is extremely accurate how he gets away with it. Watch him sometimes he doesn’t read anything. He will stare down one guy pre snap and he will only look at him. And try and make the throw or check down to a running back.

He has done that his whole career, nothing new this year. Just lost his check down rb this year.

They went from 1st to 15th(2017 ) and 11th in 2018 in scoring offense..

I dont think its a bad hire but Im just saying its not a slam dunk home run hire...

What makes everyone think he’s coming to college? Going from an NFL OC to a college OC is a downgrade. Please give me a situation where that has happen

How do we know he doesnt like college better? Saban did. So he came back. Also, I believe there was an article stating that he likes college better.

Anybody who acts like Steve Sarkisian is a bad OC hire is just flat out of their minds. I like our odds with that guy wasted up in the booth than I liked them with Helton, SCOTT, Debord, and pretty much any OC we've had since Cutcliffe

It’s deliberate. Take the tinfoil hat off and relax. CJP knows what he’s doing, buddy.

The same guy that tried to sell us on Schiano last year is now trying to sell us on Sark...

His last 2 OC gigs cost Bama a natty and turned the high powered Falcons offense into a mediocre offense that cant get the ball to Julio in the red zone...

No Bama’s defense or lack there of cost Bama a title. The offense put up 31 points, that should’ve been more than enough for a Bama defense to hold a team under to win

Guess you missed the “joking aside” part, but ok. I like Coach Pruitt and am more optimistic than not (at least as much as the past decade of let downs will allow). Being in “show me” mode as a fan is far from wearing a “tin foil hat.” It is sensible.

Bamas defense was gassed since offense had less than 20 yds on 10 out of 11 drives prior to their final TD...

There’s quite a few reasons Deshaun Watson was drafted in the first round. The way he plays under pressure is one of them.

If Julio scores tomorrow. He matches the most TDs he had in a season under Kyle Shananhan.

Also a fact.

You obviously don’t know crap about the Falcons offense.

You want to bring up Calvin Ridley matching a franchise record for rookie WRs scoring? He probably breaks the record tomorrow.

And yet Freeze ended up taking a HC job at Liberty. People need to stop with the Freeze/Fulmer/big brass stuff.
Exactly. Freeze got zero OC opportunities in the SEC or ACC. The issue was not UT’s brass/Fulmer/boosters. Otherwise, he could have ended up at Bama, Auburn, FSU.

Dude you can not explain that to some of these pipe dreamers. Sarkisian would be an outstanding hire and if they are basing off Julio Jones touchdowns/catches, remember Dan Quinn is involved and the is why the falcons are bad. Defense is horrible and losing your best running back basically all year does not help. Some of these clowns do not know football and just go by name brands aka 5 stars like Botch Jones recruited and look where that went.

Sarkisian would be a good hire. Knows the game, relates well with kids. Can't really judge him on what has or hasn't happened in the NFL. Saban didn't do much there either. Some of the posers on here can only go by who someone else tells them is a hot name.
