It's not about eggshells, it's about honestly and optics. Pruitt could have simply said that he'll speak with Sapp and make a decision from there. Now you have two contradictory statements. Who are you going to believe. Pruitt himself sung his praises. So all of a sudden Sapp is a malcontent ?! By all accounts he's been solid on and off the field. No reason to believe otherwise now. I know quite a few 40+ year olds who make mistakes as well.I disagree.
I would caution him not to walk on egg shells with players.
I don’t know, you don’t know, who knows for sure what happened. CJP did say in his presser yesterday Sapp made a mistake and 18-22 year olds will make a mistake. He also said it would be handled internally. Hopefully all is good now or will be.
Bottom line Pruitt is gonna be the head coach for at least 4 years.
Players and fans might as well use to it.
Gonna be a tough year but I for one think better years are ahead with CJP at the helm.
It might be a big deal to Sapp, but he has little recourse.
Pruitt has a tendency to sit players who don't practice 100% thru the week and Sapp couldn't practice with a bone bruise for several days so Pruitt had him on the bench. Pruitt apparently has a way of doing some things folks don't understand. JMOSo if Sapp isnt good enough to earn a starting job, whats the issue?
Speaking of which.....I feel if Pruitt had done something out of character he wouldn't have responded to any media post game. I think it was a mis-communication involving a go between party or that Sapp bucked the HC cause he wasn't playing....doesn't appear to be too bad.Agreed. And the first party to comment shouldn't have. Coach will learn to keep his mouth shut.
There may be nothing to it and it may not hurt us in any way. I know we all hope that turns out to be the case.
But I'm telling you, if this was a typical workplace disagreement that went public -- say in an email chain -- the current resolution would not satisfy both parties. Sapp is in a subordinate role and can't really say what he might want to say in his own defense. Pruitt is the "boss" and he hasn't recanted or clarified his accusation about Sapp. If the other players identify more with Sapp than they do with Pruitt, then Pruitt's unwillingness to deal with this more openly could become a source of resentment. And I don't have to tell you that if he loses the players, we're sunk.
Not saying this is how it's going to play-out. I'm just saying that something about this is just not right.
You are right, something about this team is off. Botchs recruits dont seem to be buying in completely. Their laziness and slacker mentality are conflicting with the new staffs philosophy. Its causing rifts. The players are going to have to step up and buy in or get out.
But, but, but, according to some on VN, Pruitt might lose them and they may quit, transfer, or God forbid, all get together and show him and this coaching staff by not putting forth their best efforts.............
I say BS on that!
I agree with you BOT. Step it up and be IN or transfer, quit, do what ever makes them HAPPY and get OUT. "Safe space" perhaps.
You got Chiefs, or in this case a Chief, and you got Indians. For those who don't get it, the Chief is the "HMFIC" period.
Oh, and for the bunch who wants a new coach, what coach in their right mind would want to come in to a sh!t show where the players determine whether or not they want to put forth their best effort based on the new coaches philosophy? Don't think they would be lining up at the door.................
I call BSA on Sapp, he is just the type of player that has ruined the program. The transfer rule is in effect I suggest he take it.Something isn't adding up. If Sapp did what Pruitt claimed, at the very least he would have been suspended. The fact that he isn't being punished, externally anyway, leads me to side with his version of the events. I would caution Pruitt not to lose the trust of his players. It seems as if he spoke without knowing all the facts.
He is having trouble understanding why his dream of playing in the NFL is being damaged as this team loses by double digits. Pruitt said he wanted to win every game. Sapp can't figure out why he did not get a snap the first half.
Feels like the coaching staff is peeing on a life's worth of effort and not even delivering a win.
So volleygirl defended Dooley, defended Butch and doesn’t support Pruitt. I think I’m going to like where we are headed under Pruitt.
well, with the new redshirt rule, and since he is within the 4 game limit, he could declare for a RS for this season and transfer. Whatever happened, and whatever the conversation was in CJP's office on Sunday, it was not enough to make Sapp decide to transfer, nor did Pruitt apparently feel he deserved any sort of public punishment, and Sapp was on the practice field today. It had the potential to go bad, but it appears that it was a good meeting on Sunday and it is past history.
But I will say CJP can't be losing his ish on the sideline. We made way too much fun of Muschamp for losing it. I think it is often difficult for the more fiery DCs to keep it in check once they become the HC, but as the CEO of the program you can't expect a disciplined team if you yourself can not be disciplined on the sideline. Your team will tend to be a reflection of yourself. Champ has seemed to calm down now at SC, so he has either grown as a coach, or the external noise Columbia is much less than in Gainesville. Probably both. But I suspect Pruitt will learn from it as he grows in the role. Especially when he seems himself kicking the whiteboard.
Pruitt doesn't have a history of losing it on the sidelines Yes there is the Pruitt/Richt thing at UGA. There is no doubt he caused a stir there, but there seems to be different versions from different people close to the program of what exactly happened. At any rate, his demands apparently worked in UGA's favor in the long run. A a DC, he was always great at making in-game adjustments; I hope he can adjust as well as a HC.

"did not" like him, and that part is true. Can't help it. Won't apologize for it.Volly girl stated from the beginning she did like CJP because of his Bama roots. Not surprised she is taking this stance. Sapp had a confrontation on the sideline with a coach. You can’t do what he did regardless of his NFL reason. He was a part of our worse team ever and a horrible defense. He can transfer but probably not many D 1 schools worth much knocking on his door. Butch players on this team still want to be coddled for the most part. Hope CJP is not doing that. New coaches need to get their players and it happens with coaching changes.
