Sanford Stadium After the Game/End of the Game

not good for UGA fans because "the people that settled in the Appalachian area are the most warrior like of any other people in the united states."

A lot of my friends stayed behind for the night and by all accounts were not classy in victory. If the roles were reversed I know at least 3/4 of the incidents would have resulted in assaults in Knoxville after a game like that.

Maybe Georgia fans are soft or maybe we just aren't the stand up fanbase we like to think haha. Or maybe some of both.

They turned off the ribbon scoreboard between the stadium levels as well.

I would have like to seen the whole team form a T over the G or at least cover it. I've never heard a stadium go so quiet. Shoop was still up tight after the game and was sweating pretty bad, Debord was relived and all smiles. Same with Scott.

I have seen several posts in other threads asking for some first hand experiences from people at the game. I figured it would be good to start a new thread for everyone's stories.

My seats were in the closed end zone where Eason competed the go ahead TD pass with twelve seconds to go. (opposite the vols section and band) We were three of the very few vols in the area. After the interception with roughly 2 minutes left DAWG fans started to clear out. They all got jammed up at the exits around the hedges though and by the time Georgia was making its final drive barely anyone had actually made it out.

When they hit the deep pass the stadium went crazy as you can imagine. I honestly expected the fans around the hedges to storm the field if they won.

Heard a lot of comments in my section like, "I'll take that celebration penalty." They were all raising serious hell shaking pom poms leading up to the play. When he caught it I was one of the first to realize it had happened and went berserk. All the GA fans just slowly stood up and left. We stayed until the ushers made us leave.

As soon as the game ended they shut the big screen off to a screensaver and never once showed a replay of the Catch or a final score. It was the best game Iv'e ever seen by far.
You got to witness the only game in TN Vols FB history that ended with us winning with a Hail Mary TD! What a awesome story! Thanks for posting it. Go Vols!!

Was in Section 130 in middle of UGA fans for the entire game. Honestly, I have been to Athens numerous times and a handful of fans are getting worse and worse each time I go. All game long dealt with a UGA fan who was so uneducated on the game of football he argued with me the entire game on simple calls. He was all over me after the go ahead TD, but as soon as Jennings caught the ball he had no reply. I sprinted out of the stadium to get out to the car and there were fans in the streets that had no clue what happened at the end. UGA fans were celebrating thinking they just won and Tenn fans look defeated. As I ran I yelled we caught it, we won and it was amazing watching the reactions from people who had left early.

As a long time Vol, I have to say this was one of the best games I've ever seen......it couldn't happen against a better team than the Georgia Bulldogs and between the hedges

Shoop probably should have been sweating it a bit. The defense of the Georgia touchdown was questionable at best. Granted, the cornerback made an egregious, rudimentary error in coverage, but it is imperative to keep the offense from getting behind the defense. Somewhat ironically, that was the call we all thought should have come against Florida last year.

We went to celebrate after the game in the downtown Athens bars and when we got there all of the TV's were searching for signal. Apparently, A number of bars in downtown Athens had their tv's blackout after Georgia scored their touchdown to go ahead. Lots of UGA fans thought they had won the game until it started filling up with people from the stadium. They had no clue Tennessee had completed the hail mary pass

Yeah, that is awesome. This was probably the absolute most painful way for Georgia's fans to get a Loss. I love it.

So next year we put a picture of a blacked out scoreboard on the face of the Georgia Game Tickets? Or is that too "classless" of us?

Tickets next year should have action shots of winning scores from this year. Obviously the Hail Mary goes on the Georgia ticket, with an inset of their Kublanow ticket.

Unfortunately, I was at the "hobnail boot" game in 2001 in Neyland--and it was very quiet, too.....

My experience was great. We got in the stadium early after the Vol Walk. My seats were right beside the band. The band was actually overcrowded in the section, so two members were basically playing beside me in my ear, which I did not mind at all. Obviously, the start wasn't great. UGA students were to our right and let us have it after every score. Then, in the second half, when we came back, I got my two cents into them, which brought me joy. The touchdown pass for them was great, because they thought they had ultimately won the war, but they'd only won a battle. Then, after the penalty on the kickoff, I looked my girl in the eyes, and I said "We're about to win this game." Sure enough, the Dobbnailed boot was used to crush the Dawgs' faces. We all lost it. The band played through Rocky Top like 6-7 times, and I got it all on video. The two guys behind me jumped so high, he went over the portal of our section and landed on the base level below us. Best experience I'll probably ever have at a college football game. Truly awesome, and I would do it all over again. GO VOLS!

I was sitting somewhere within a half mile of you at Bristol then. That was an incredible experience and the weeks that have followed have been an incredible ride! Keep the good luck coming brother

I won't make it to A&M but just found out I've got a press pass for the TSIO!!! One of my friends got two through a communications class. I sure hope this is our season.

Anyone know exactly what a press pass entails?

That's awesome! I was across from you in 320. I did the same thing before the final play. My girlfriend looked like she was about to cry and I just said "Hold on babe, this one isn't over yet. " Can't explain it but I just had a feeling. I honestly never once thought we were going to lose that game. I swear there was some juju in that stadium last night. I would've killed to be next to the band in the TN section but it was nice to look the DAWG fans in the eyes as they left.

Was in upper deck in section 610. Just had been at the lowest of the lows when Eason completed that pass with ten seconds left and the few Georgia fans around us started barking obnoxiously.

We all were standing and watched Dobbs throw the Hail Mary to the end zone and could see only Josh Smith streaking across the end zone pointing. At that moment the whole 600 level full of Tennessee fans shook and saw water flying through the air. The gentlemen behind me jumped so hard that both of his lens on his sunglasses fell out.

Was beyond epic. Was one of the highs you can't explain. Things like that just don't happen to Tennessee.

We were in 611 to your left close to the front. My 11 year old niece was the one that kept going back and forth with that lady dawg fan "go vols!" " go dawgs". And my niece would tell her "it doesn't matter what score is, we're going to win". A couple time, my brother and I started the V O L S chant to shut up the dogs chanting. Hopefully you heard us down there!

You can go on the field pregame and during the last five minutes of the game, but you can't cheer in the press box during the game
